New Hobbist!!!!!!!!!!
Moved into home, ex-owner left me a 65 gallon tank ...... have always wanted to get into a salt water tank ..... please help!!!

Give as many details about the tank as you can, if possilbe, post pictures.

All I know is that its a 65 gallon tank, that it, sorry!

Is there anything in it right now or is it sitting emtpy? (dry)
If you take pictures of the equipment liley someone here can ID it for you and tell you how to work it.

What is the 1st step I should take?

Well, you're doing it - researching!

What you need to do is a little reading on what kind of tank you want - do you want a reef tank with corals (if the lights you have can support them) or do you want Fish Only With Live Rock (FOWLR)?

Reef tanks are more compicated ands require special lighting and there is less room for error with your water parameters. Do you have any test kits? What kinds of supplies were left with the tank if any? (chemicals, salt, hygrometer/refractometer, etc...)

There are many "stickies" on canreef that yopu can read or you can look on the internet as well, here are some links for beginners on canreef, as well check out the "Reference library"

Thanks for your help. I will figure out what type of tank I want, so far I think I'm swaying towards a reef tank with coral!!!!!
