Vertex Cerebra Controller Update!!

It sounds like the beta testing is finally beginning and some tentative pricing has been released with preorders coming soon. Heres some info I found on RC:

I spoke with the owner of Vertex for quite a while last night and the latest is that the controller firmware is completely ready to go, other than the GUI (graphical user interface). They're debating on a couple of different layouts right now, but will be taken care of in the next week or two.

The beta units are shipping to user the first or second week of March. There will obviously be a few bugs in programming as every controller has, thus the need for the beta test.

The package will retail between $699 and $799, and include the following:

- Head Unit
- Power Bar 8
- Temp Sensor

The Power Bar 8 will have the following ports:

- 2 x ph
- 2 x ORP
- 1 x PAR Sensor
- 0-10vdc output
..... and one or two other things that I"m forgetting right now.

The main cpu (head unit) will include multiple USB ports, as well as DVI connection, built in webserver.

As soon as we have a little more info (pictures included), as well as a firm retail price we will start to do preorders for them.

Cool will be interesting to see how these effect proflix marketing and pricing.

Par sensor sounds interesting :)

Cheers,

My guess is we will see some price drops. Thats usually what competition seems to do which is excellent for us consumers!

$700-$800 isn't bad for what you get.

Any idea if it comes with WI-FI?

Best bet is to get on the thread on RC. Jeremy from Premium Aquatics seems to be "In the know" about this controller.

I would bet yes if I was a betting man! It is supposed to be the ultimate in controllers so they probably will not leave out anything. The live camera option would be cool to have on your tank.

At MACNA they were unsure if it would come with Wi-Fi...but they said you could just buy a basic USB dongle like a computer and get it going. I think it will come with Wi-Fi. I find it amazing that the other controllers can't offer this.

I was thinking maybe if there is enough people interested maybe we can try doing a group buy ?????

Just seen that preorders will be starting up in the next week or so after a "huge announcement"! I can see a huge demand for this toy already with lots of people drooling over it already!!
