LF: 1/4 inch steel pipe

Hey everyone. I am trying to make a custom light holder made out of 1/4 inch steel black pipe, but having trouble finding a place that sells, cuts, and threads it. Also, information on somewhere that sells fittings like floor flanges, elbows and tees.

Any help would be appreciated!

Extremely hard to find somewhere that will thread 1/4 pipe. It just isn't done. Smallest threaded pipe size is 3/8. A fully equipped machine shop could probably thread 1/4 rod. Same goes for 1/4 fittings, you would need to find a specialty supplier. 3/8th and up fittings can be found at any plumbing supplier like Noble, Emco or Bartle & Gibson.

Is there a SteelMet there? They do that kind of stuff here.

I don't want to use round bar because I was hoping to run the wires inside the pipe to hide them.

I can find all the fittings at Rona, Home Depot and Ackland Granger. Some are galvanized but I am planning on spray painting the whole thing to prevent rusting. Just having a hard time finding somebody online that sells the pipe.

I will make some calls tomorrow with your suggestions and see what I can find.

Thanks!

If you are putting wires inside of round pipe, then put a string inside the pipe while you are attaching the 90 deg. elbows. This will help to pull the wires through after everything is connected.
And ground the steel pipe electrically.
Try metalmart for steel pipe

I used to be a plumber. But you could call EMCO and ask if they have 1/4 inch black iron pipe that they could cut and pre thread for you.
