My Green mandarin

Well after 5+ years of life in my tank my green mandarin Dragonet is no more I knew for some time it was on its way out as even though with a plethora of food available it just would not gain weight and was moving slower over time.

It was one of my more favourite fish and was always a focal point in showing my tank and it would even let you handle it on occasion if you were patient enough but it would not let you pet it just hold it and the only fish that never fought with any other fish in my tank. I will miss my colourful lil fish not sure if I will get another one as The difficulty in keeping one can outweigh the benefits but it got 5 good years of life in my tank.

Sorry to hear about that.
But you're right, it got to enjoy your tank for 5 years, that's nothing to scoff at! It wasn't simply wasting away.

As for not fighting, I think most fish leave mandarins alone, because of their slime coat, and the colors I believe are to warn potential predators.

Sad to hear, but at least it did get a decent lifespan and a habitat full of live foods while it was alive.

Those losses are hard to swallow. Sorry.

I’m sorry to hear that. They’re such colorful marine fishes, one of my favorites as well. I’m glad it got to live in your tank for 5 years though, that’s amazing!

For the love of God, can you please stop bumping old threads??? Almost every thread you replied on is over a year old with no responses in that same amount of time.
