How to get a spammer to hang up on you...lol.

Had one call today telling me how my windows computer needed fixing. I let him go on for a few seconds, and then told him that the FBI was tracing his call. He first said, "What?", but as soon as I said FBI again, he hung up... lol.

Where is the fun in that? I'd drag it out as long as possible and waste their time.

LoL thats a good one Walter.

I've found that the trick to an auto-dialer is to only say 'Hello' once and then cover the mouthpiece or say nothing. If you do that, it will almost always hang up as it's expecting a person to say something twice which is habitual for people if they can't hear the person. If it's a legit person trying to call you personally, they'll already be active on the line.

when the PCs called last night looking for my vote laughed and laughed, they hung up before I did

Yeah, but they might get paid by the hour... In the past I have done that, but not worth my time either. I have also just left the phone off the hook for a while.

With this FBI mention, maybe it might get me off their call list. Although I know that is just wishful thinking...

And in case you're not aware, they can even spoof a caller ID.

Personally, I just think all spammers, and their ilk, should be shot and p*ssed on...

They are just human beings doing a job.
That's pretty harsh.

You should get yourself on the DNC list, since they are now enforcing it.

Unfortunately criminals do not obey the DNC list (go figure). I still get the "windows computer is sending virus/error messages" thing from time to time. If I have nothing to do I keep them online as long as i can by being as stupid as I can. I think my record is about 15 min before they hang up on me.

I am on DNC,... doesn't work. Even the window and carpet cleaner callers ignore those. That's why I say they should be shot and.... (and come on, you can't be seriously defending them!!) And would you say counterfeiters, drug dealers, street people begging from wheelchairs (then get up and walk away after you pass), etc, etc. are just doing their jobs?

These particular people are attempting to hack into your system and/or get personal info from you. While they may have applied to the "criminals wanted" job posting, still doesn't make it right or excuse the behaviour. They aren't selling vacuums, they're trying to scam you.
