BBK supermarin 200 pump died =(

okay im in the building of a new 180g reef and was trying my skimmer... it
didnt run for couples months.

pump tried to start, heavy noises and fumes got me thinking about it being broke =D

now i dont really feel like putting 800$ on a pump and have an hy 2000 at hand.......

would you do it?

if not whys that?

got any other pump close to the original pumps performance that wont cost an arm a leg and my lastborn in mind for a replacement?

aquattro should chime in here , he just replaced a few BK pumps with aftermarkets .

Replacing with with a new BK pump would be way to much money IMO..

Jon, I only dealt with the mini pumps. Not sure what replaces these. According to the BK Owners thread on RC, even BK doesn't replace them :)

And you replaced them with wich?
What do you think of the hy3000?
It does screw right in as far as fitting goes its ok, worried about performance.

Should i just dump a perfectly good shell?

damn , ok
wow well if BK doesnt even replace them , im really struggling to see the upside of buying a bk skimmer at all.

seems they have a 5year lifespan and then there done.

I change my vote to dump the shell and source out a new bubblemagus ..
again just my opinion.

The mini series pumps are just rebranded Laguna pumps, I bought a few blocks from my LFS. Had to remount them to the plates, but that was a 10 minute job. If you can find out what your pump really is, you can probably find it for less.

Or, if you think you can fit another type of pump, by all means give it a shot.

Technically they do, just lots of people waiting 8 months or more for warranty replacements. Huge service mess going on with BK in N. America

The mini series are for sure, but I can't find a good enough view for the supermarin..
If it is, the 1500 is no longer available, but the 1350 is the direct replacement.
