Wavemakers.. Thoughts?!

I'm thinking of getting a wavemaker for my 90g. Thoughts on which brand or unit to get? Any problems, issues, success?

I've heard good things on the WP-40 with wavebox option. I think it ends up being a lot cheaper than the Tunze. Try www.reefsupplycanada.com a vendor on here as Nick sells the combo. Not sure on pricing off the top of my head.

Depends. How big is the tank, can you hide it fairly well? They're a fair size. If you have a controller, you can do the same thing with 2 pumps without the bulky box.

Had one, sold it. It did what it was supposed to do but I could hear the thing running on the main floor and the tank is in the basement.

wave maker

i prefer a wave box myself.you get more water movement as it displaces the water

I have pumps on a controller and the wave goes over top of my cross braces, that's enough water movement for me -lol

I am not a huge fan of the boxes as they are big and also amplify the sound of the pump a ton. Would only use in very large tank as they are an eyesore. For any tank 6 foot or less the wp40 package packs tons of power an d can make waves and a pretty low price.

Im loving my 2 WP40s can't hear them when i put my ear up to the glass. Very powerful but if you buy 2 definitely get the Dual controller. Or if you have an Apex then contact TORX on here and he makes cables so you can control them from your Apex.

...

thanks for the advice. I checked out the WP40s on YouTube and they look like they do a good job. I read some reviews that said that they break down easy... did anyone have problems with that or was that an issue for the previous models?

We have one wp40 on our 210 gallon, and wave wise it is more than enough. We are thinking of getting another for the other side, just to leave on "random'.
We paid about $80 from fishstreet (china) plus about $8.00 shipping
Even if it only lasts a year, I'd feel like we got our money's worth.
Our wave box cost $400, and the Jebao wave is better
