Bean Animal Install Question

When setting the standpipe heights, how far above/below the overflow line is each pipe supposed to be. I was planning on the main and backup pipes having downturned elbows and the emergency being an open pipe about 3/4" below the rim.

I realize that I can throttle the main drain and raise the level in the overflow to a degree but the whole point of this setup and a coast-to-coast overflow is to get as thin a sheet of water as possible flowing into the overflow.

Right now, I'm thinking of setting the opening of the downturned pipe below the overflow level since the water has to travel up about 3/4" before it can start flowing down the sanitary T.

You can have it where you like. Just make sure that it doesn't suck air

Well..... I have to cut some pipe and glue it so I'd rather only do it once (hence the question).

The Bean Animal instructions are oddly vague on the whole subject and I'm not sure if this is an oversight; the answer is blatently obvious and I'm just an idiot (could be !) or it just doesn't matter (I have a tough time buying into that one)

Ok. With mine water level was about half a inch overtop of down turned 90

DiverDude 12-21-2012 11:25 PM

is that for both active pipes or just the main ?

Heres a pic of my set up, didnt bother with the 90's. never had a problem.

So from that pic, I take it that the main is WELL below (2"+) the overflow; the secondary is pretty much AT the overflow level and the emergency is up high but below the rim.

Yeah ?

you got it.
