And better cover for tank peeping in my case.

I have had a reef tank running in one form or another for the past 25 years.

Sometimes, when my kids were younger and didn't have much time they did not look like a reef tank but there were corals in one form or another in the tank still growing.

kids have that annoying tendency to do that to tanks :twised:

Six years and still going strong I haven’t bottomed out yet in the hobby

I voted yes, but we'll see a year or 2 from now.

I'm still a sucker for the whole money pit thing, for now anyway ...
Costs keep rising, people keep selling corals for less and less. Pretty hard to recoup money for salt, bulbs, test kits ...

One of these days I may shut it down. Can't travel the world with a healthy tank

Barely. Hanging by a thread for a year. See how it goes in the coming months if work improves.

Yes, this. Every time I go to buy something it seems prices are creeping up beyond my comfort zone. As much as I (mostly) enjoy this hobby, I have a feeling there is going to be a breaking point where I am no longer willing to spend that much money on a bucket of salt/fish food/GFO/carbon/filters/making RO water/etc.. But for now, into the money pit I/we go! Wheeeeee!

Yes, and this too. Pretty much just scraping the bottom of the barrel in terms of devoting just enough time for the tank to avoid a complete meltdown.

Yes...barely

Had a couple years of hell with my tank and very little time to keep it up. Right now...about 300g with zoas, chalices and frogspawn mostly.
My Apex hasnt worked in over a year so guessing my dosing (pretty good keeping it within decent levels) and 2 of my 5 Radions blinking right now.

Annoyed with how you have to be online to control the Radions and Apex... I haven't had consistent time to deal with that. I will never buy equipment again that does not allow more direct manipulation again.
Bad enough how much we have to pay for equipment in this hobby. Huge markups! (not blaming the stores, but manufacturers).

Other problems are hair and bubble algae despite keeping only coral in my tank and vinegar dosing as well as GFO. My phosphates hare low.

We'll see if I can get things back on track. If not, I see wrapping up the hobby within the year.

Going to get a couple sea hares and hopefully some berghia if I can source them and take it from there.

My tank was stunning with sticks a few years ago. Sure miss that!

Steve, what are your NO3 and PO4 at?
I may have some input for you regarding the algae and your GFO.
I balanced mine a year ago last spring and haven't used GFO since.

PM so we don't clutter up this thread

I should probably get back in? Been getting the itch again lately. Maybe it is time to assemble this 400g....
