k thanks Greg

Yes it works in the tank... Use small pieces of rubble... creates large voids while still having pores... 'safe zone' for pods provided the holes are small enough the fish cannot get into the pile and the pile is big enough to have lots of breeding room.

But still take time to happen

Yes it works. Why not get the top back of your new tank drilled, get yourself another lets say 15G tank, put it lower than your display.Get a little internal pump and start a little sump and build a refugium in there. Just let your drilled display just gravity drain in to your sump. Get rid of those cannisters and make the leap to a sump system. It would be some good experience and prepare you for when you do an upgrade to a bigger tank. Instructions too complicated?

I'd love to do that but my wife wont go for buying return pumps and baffles and junk.. I'm lucky to get what I am getting for the tank this time of year
plus I dont have the first clue what I need and where to get it. I do have a spare 20 gallon, that is scratched to all hell. but again, what I need or where to get it I dont have a clue lol

I could do it for ya if you wanted to go that way but not until after Xmas.

Nano 12-17-2011 04:48 AM

I mean if you guys could run through it with me I might be able to swing a small sump.

Nano 12-17-2011 04:52 AM

Hey maybe Greg so if that's the case I should hold off moving my tank until I do that if the wife let's me that is

Madreefer 12-17-2011 04:53 AM

Could be done for probably $60 total with all supplies, drilled and the glass shop would probably have a chunk of glass or acrlic for a baffle kicking around. Really simple to do this.

Madreefer is right, it would be very inexpensive to do a small sump & would really help stabilize your system. You would not need a large pump & I have 1" bulkheads, hose and possibably a pump as well.

Not stupid at all, when you drill a hole in a tank you need a bulk head to seal it off again. This is where you add PVC pipe & fitting to direct your water flow to & from your sump.

its when you buy alot of heads at one time ;)

hahah a bulk head is a threaded fitting that has a rubber seal it what goes in the holes that are drilled in a tank, the two fittings that make up a bulkhead screw together with glass inbetween them making the seal tight and then both ends can have pipe installed into them.

nahh.. I think its just how life goes during the holidays. Last year it was my truck when we were going to visit the extended family in Calgary, head gasket cracked. So I parted it out and bought my jeep. Starter is an easy fix. just more money that I have to take out of my"hobby funds"lol

Lampshade 12-17-2011 06:03 AM

I had the same thing with my wife's car. Needs new lifters, stupid VW, I swear it knows that JL's boxing day sale is coming up :P

Nano 12-17-2011 06:07 AM

yeah its the same thing as a thread I read the other day some one wanted to go on vacation and their equipment failed on their tank or something. its like things know that its christmas haha

I think that's due to some staff member feeling sorry for him....

What breed are those?

ALang 12-18-2011 02:42 PM

WOW.
Thanks for those pictures. I'll share them with my boys...
So tiny. So many from such a small (comparatively) belly.
They are wonderful. Thank you so much for taking the time to share.
Merry Christmas!
