Wrecked my ai led lights

So I went downstairs this morning and noticed my lights were off. Tried unplugging the lights at the connection to the light itself, when I plugged it back in smoke started coming out.
I’m guessing salt creep got into the power connection and caused a short. Pretty sure my lights are toast.
Now to drop some money on new lights, any suggestions?
70 gallon 40” wide tank.
Cheers.

I am guessing by 40" wide, you mean long (since its 70G tank)

Reefbreeders photon V2+ may not work, as it is between 32 and 48 units. 32 unit is good for up to 36" tank so you would have 2" low light areas on the sides. May or may not be an issue

Noopsyche K7 Pro II - 2-3 of these depending on what you have in the tank. 3 of these will cover whole tank and then some, and will grow anything coral wise. Each is rated for 24"x24" but work best for 18"x18" area.

AI, Kessils etc if you want to spend lots of money again.

2 A360x done , or ATI fixture T5 . My 2 fav lighting solutions or you could get the new radions they sound pretty powerful for LED

coolhandgoose 03-03-2020 08:11 PM

2 a360x is out of the price range.
Those noopsyche only come from China looks like and it’s a month for shipping.
Only looking to spend around 500 bucks.

Anyone seen these:
Current USA Orbit Marine Aquarium Led Light, 36 to 48"(4102) https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00GFTQDQK/..._BCSxEbVXZHDZ0

Premium aquatics carries noopsyche and will ship to you. Also they have their own usa website that ships as well.

cvrle1 03-03-2020 09:15 PM

As mentioned, NP are sold in US and have US warranty as well

Current USA Orbit lights all use 0.5W LEDs which are only good for really shallow tanks and low light corals. Dont bother with these, they are a waste of money for anything other than mushrooms maybe.

All depend on your need for lighting in the tank, lps and softies won’t need crazy lighting, 2-3 ai primes are good options, sps heavy then ati fixture or radions. Tons of lights out, just depends on how much money and how dedicated you are to the hobby. Let’s see a pic of your tank.

kruler 03-05-2020 03:34 AM

Radions. I happen to have a pair of XR30 Gen 3 pro for sale :)

coolhandgoose 03-05-2020 05:03 PM

Tank was recently moved so nothing much alive, kind of on a rebuild. I don’t do sps coral mostly easy softies and lps.
Like I said $500 was kind of what I was looking at spending.

coolhandgoose 03-05-2020 05:16 PM

I’m kind of leaning towards the noopsyche ones

Had great success with these coming from Current marine Orbits, I have no SPS but great growth from LPS and softies and fully controllable through app on Android, good luck:

I'm actually curious if anyone has played with these? I heard of one guy in my area having success with them on a sps reef. I just want more input if possible

Lots of people head great success with VS lights. They will grow any coral you want, including SPS. They have no features at all, other than timer for 2 channels. I was going to use these for my tank, but got great deal on Noopsyche K7 Pro II lights. Will use VS that I have over frag tank, if/when i set one up in the future. If your tank is 48" long, use 2 165W versions over 1 300W. Better coverage and more light.

Huge thread on R2R about them

Love all these options thanks everyone.

Thanks! I now have options for when my lovely AI Sols kick the bucket

Although I posted above about Noopsych which I have heard good things about, for a little bit more I have just ordered three of the new LEDZeal Mirage Led's to replace my huge DIY unit after 7 years. The DIY is giving me grief so time for a change. I got to build my own spectrum and the reviews are great. They shipped yesterday so will see what they look like upon arrival.

Here's the setup I put together. 120 degree lenses all around with convex versions for Red Green and Cyan to blend it out better.

What did that run you? $$

coolhandgoose 03-08-2020 12:24 AM

Also where did you order them from?

mseepman 03-08-2020 07:03 AM

Ordered directly from LEDZeal which is the only way to do it. Kevin was the rep who assisted me and he was great. With everything that I wanted it was just over $800US delivered to me in Vernon.
There are huge threads on R2R about them and how much people have loved them for years. Same with on UltimateReef. They are not a new player and quite a bit fancier than traditional black boxes.
The 3 x 180w 24" units should give my 7' tank amazing coverage. Everything is App controlled. One master and two slave units. Wi-Fi built in.
