who quarantines fish

Just wondering who here quarantines their new additions, and who doesn't. I have never done it but now that i would like to add some more expensive fish i been thinking of it.

what process do you guys use and how long should a fish be quarantine for

I don't buy new fish anymore, but did quarantine all new fish when I did, having lost a tankful of big fish to velvet by not doing QT. I used a 40g tank, hang on filter and treated with chloroquine for 2 weeks.

It would be OK, for those 1.5" fish, but for a 4" fish, anything you can do to make it a little bigger would be better. 15-20g if you can.

Yup everything that goes in my tank get quarantined. I quarantine for 14 days, 7 with chloroquine phosphate, and then 7 days of observation. It's all done in a 15g tank with a hob filter, heater and bubbler.

Aquattro do you have a thread detailing your treatment procedure for chlorquine phosphate? I was considering using this treatment for a flame angel I have in qt. thanks :)

I QT all new fish using the hypo method.

Not only for disease prevention but gives them a strong head start before going into the display tank.

Yes, minimum six weeks including prazi-pro and either CP or cupramine depending on species.

I may have typed something out long ago, but I use 20mg/l in tank, no carbon, no rock. After 7 days I change 50% water with new water containing 10mg/l. Lights off, it's photosensitive.
