Nice work on the setup! I've been trying to find a way to quiet my 7" sock area, and saw the ones Dave posted today. Will be interested to hear how they work out for you.

explain the filter sock chamber a bit more if you don't mind. I have dual 4" on my DT and a 7" on my frag tank and both are quite annoying....I fill the socks with filter floss to quiet them down but ive been on the hunt for plastic mesh pots I can just fill with filter floss to eliminate washing socks all together but this looks interesting.

thanks

I don't see the issue with noisy socks.
I've been running 2 different designs for over 7 years now and neither was/is noisy

My socks are held by a piece of plex at the top of the water line in the highest point in my sump where the water comes from the DT. There is an inch drop from the socks to the water level in the next chamber.

I'd like to see what designs are causing noise ...

They are noisy when the water level is low in the socks.

This would be noisy (water level will be about 4" below the top rim of the sock):

The noise is caused by the reduced surface area of the spillover prior to hitting the sock rack. An internal sock baffle solves that by reducing the turbulence of the water by increasing spillover surface area.
