My 4.5" Rhomboid Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus rhomboidalis)

Just thought I would post a couple pictures of my new rhomboid wrasse. After over 10 years in the hobby it takes quite a bit to get me excited about a fish, but adding this guy to my collection of wrasses has made my quite happy.

Here he is 4.5" Rhomboid Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus rhomboidalis). Very active and out and about to which pleases me!

I think he likes the camera! Very nice! What is he eating?

He does seem to be friendly. Eating flake and mysis. He hid in the rockwork for about 4 days before coming out into the open.

Gorgeous fish Dave! Do you get them in often and are they costly?

They are rarely available, and VERY costly. I'd like one... :D

Well this was a trial shipment from a new supplier. Also - this one was sold as an adult 4.5" "supermale". I was charged the same price as the apx. 3" sub-adult because a couple other fish I requested were not available, and becuase as I did not have one that I would propably want to keep it for my display. I am putting quite the collection of Cirrhilabrus species wrasse together! Costly - well that is a little subjective, they are not cheap (for a fish!), I sold the sub-adult 3" rhomboid for $300. Diver's Den sell them for much more. No black tang price tag though.

I do not see being able to get them often. Also, until I can get WYSIWYG photos (hence buying a SLR camera) I do not see selling fish online going all that well.........which has been the case to date, people seem more reluctant to buy fish than corals. Understandable though. That being said I hope to try a least one more shipment with this supplier. He can get me great stuff - I will post some prices on Canreef that include shipping wight to your door.

They are beauties - and while very timid and elusive for the fist week, now out and about and very active.
