I had some real battles with my unit as well. Teflon tape has always been my fav but this time would not do the trick for me. All of my leaks were from the threaded connections (all the tube slips were OK). I resolved the leaks by using the brush on thread seal with teflon (available in plumbing supply). Only issue I have now is I over tightened one of the fittings on a DI unit and it has a hairline crack in the blue cap that had to be epoxied:sad:

I also found my flow was way to low using the supplied pierce connector, switched to a true ice maker fitting. My unit is about 6 feet away from the supply so I also T-ed the supply and ran 1/2" line right to the unit.

Next step will be to put on a heat tape on the supply and insulate it as the town supply here is quite cold. The warmer the supply, the better the output.

I ordered the exact same unit and in the instructions they send you via email it states that the unit may leak. They do not leak test them before sending them out. You can use teflon tape, but they suggest in the instructions not to use it. Just read your instructions over again and it states how to fix the leaks.

I have the same unit and never had a leak problem with it. Mind you all the JG fittings have a lot of teflon tape on them.
Maybe the design has changed

Yah I heard the older ones didnt leak as much. These newer ones are suppose to be worse for it...

For some reason my DI has started leaking at the cap. I'm going to try some teflon tape or plumbers putty to see if I can stop it.

The new ones use o-rings but they always leak, just use a whole whack of Teflon and you'll be good, just don't crack the fittings, I think that's the reasoning for the change.
