Things you may want to consider when shopping for led lighting fixtures for your reef tank.
1. What is the par value? 2. What is the kelvin rating? 3. What BRAND of leds are installed? 4. Are the leds ‘diasy-chained? For example: one led brand prefferred by many top selling reef aquarium led lighting manufacturers is CREE. These leds are made with very high quality standards with respect to their internal parts, as a result they dont often burn out quickly because each if the diodes are charged separately, resulting in less energy waste and less heat, resulting in longer led hours of use. Some Cree leds are prefferred for reef lighting also because they emit between 440 and 480 nanometers wavelengths, which in turn many corals respond well to. 6500 kelvin rating most closely mimicks the suns natural daylight, so if you want a light that will at least provide natural daylight for your corals etc than start looking for led lights that at least have a 6500k rating. If for example you bought a 4000 kelvin rated led light or even a 6000 kelvin rated led light, you would be providing more red and yellow spectrum lighting which would promote algae growth! My personal opinion...buy something from a north american led maker, one that clearly claims what the par values and nanometer output of their led lights are right on their packaging. Anything less and your being hoodwinked. hth -Les |
what are you using it for? its not going to grow coral if that's your question

You get what you pay for. Doubt its worth the $55 they want for it.

Cheap leds
I would vote gaabage.
I run 2 of these and they grow coral just fine. One of the only black boxes with LED's in the violet/uv range. Of course lights in the $1000+ range have better growth and color but if you cant afford...... https://www.amazon.ca/Lightimetunnel...VTR9P4TXHN4CPK |
might be ok for a refugium light.. but not much else..
