Ultimate Hybird LED T-5

1 Attachment(s)
I have been wanting to do this for a long time and finally did it today. Converted my Sfiligio 400 watt MH T-5 combo light into Sfiligio / Mitras 6200 LED with supplement T-5 lighting . It went quite seamlessly using the hanging kit from the Mitras to hang it inside the Sflilgio in place of the 400 watt MH bulb. My concerns with the Mitras have been hot spots and I a hoping this will diffuse those hot spots in my tank and add a lot more coverage.

I guess time will tell have a look at the attachment if it works

My only concern would be that mitras are not designed to be in an enclosure. I'd keep an eye on the temperature of the mitras

Looks good Sonny! I think you'll like the T5s in addition to the Mitras.

Good point I did hang it below hoping there is sufficient air movement I also believe the Mitras will shut down if it over heats so far so good

Nice work repurposing an expensive fixture. That Sfiligio is quite a beast, a good chunk of weight hanging from the ceiling there. Would it not have been better to figure out a way to add the T5's to the Mitras instead??

On another subject... is that plexiglass with holes covering the top of your tank? Any kind of barrier, glass, plexiglass, etc., will filter a fair amount of the light you're working so hard to have penetrate to your livestock. Plus a real pain to keep clean. Kudos to you for willing to put in that kind of effort. I think I may have lost one Lawnmower Blenny that went carpet surfing, but will always choose to take that chance rather than cover the top of my tank. If I were to consider any kind of cover, it would be some sort of thin mesh, possibly eggcrate.... never plexiglass. Nevertheless, if it works for you, great.

Clear screen and aluminum track from home depot works wonders. The screen blocks a very minimal amount of light and is quite sturdy. Custom sizes are easy to create. Or do like Mindy did and have custom 3D printed corner parts to really get fancy. That was to fit the inner radius of the euro brace if I recall.

Hehe yes. That was to fit the radius of the one-piece eurobrace. I used the standard aluminum screen channel stuff for the straight sides. Got the mesh from Peavey Mart.

I didn't know that about acrylic it works okay but maybe the move to mesh would take me to the next level i think i will try that as well
Thanks guys/gals
