Looking for some feedback on new website

So as most of you have seen our web site was shut down back at the end of dec. and we have been busy working on the new one:mrgreen:

Thanks to Tai aka Coleus for his hard work, we think we have the basics of the site figured out. now we are looking for some feed back on what needs is be done to enhance what we have done
http://demo.hzsolutions.com/concept/index.php/

ignore the pricing and the products as we will clean these up later:redface: we will be slimming down our product line up to help us better stock what we carry

any feed back would be great!

Thanks Dave

Ps this is still a work in progress so there are still maybe changes coming lol also ignore the speed for now as it is only hosted on Tai's home server, one we migrate to the new server it will be much faster

Looking good guys
All I'll add at this time is;

Some find it easier to navigate a website when the links are listed alphabetically ie; Aquariums, Aquarium Hardware. Those links

And your search engine could use some help
Some intuitive means for spelling errors/substitute suggestions

FWIW, it's one of the better sites I've reviewed for errors :)

ChizerBunoi 01-28-2013 07:57 PM

New site looks good. Maybe include a google map on the contact page. Grid vs List view does not work. Images on product pages don't always display properly (e.g., they zoom in too far that you can't see the product -- ATI fixtures). Meta tags needs to be setup properly for products (e.g., search for Bubble King and I get zeovit listings).

The site is still operating and fully browsable. Did you know this Dave? You need to disable the site through the CMS and not via DNS redirection.

Site looks good. Like the Layout. Couple things I found while I skimmed through:

The drop down menu when searching by manufacturer for protein skimmers says "bubble magnus". Remove the n

It appears that there is two different font colors in the product labels. See here:

Looks good Dave the only thing I can suggest and one of the things that bothers me the most is a site not being updated. So many sites and they mean well spend time and money for bells and whistles but when you try to order something it's sold out or no longer stocked.

But I can't wait till it is running fully exciting times:)

our site will be integrated with our store systems so will always be up to date, once an item is sold out it will be marked as back ordered or special order.

cheers

Awesome thanks denny

molotov 01-28-2013 11:21 PM

Doesn't work very well on my BB Playbook.

Zoaelite 01-28-2013 11:31 PM

The font for the submit account info button is the same white color as the back ground. Had to highlight the page to find it.

Free Concept points please?!!!!

Zoaelite 01-28-2013 11:38 PM

Other than that I'm pretty impressed guys, its sleek, easy to navigate and even implements a point system! The check out system practically puts most online vendors to shame, auto calculates shipping, discount among other things.

I didn't mean your spelling errors
I meant customer spelling errors

If I type in the search box korralia ( with 2 Rs ), it returns with " Your search returns no results. "

I'm not a Web designer, so my lingo may be off ...

You need an intuitive search engine. I assume it would have to be populated with all kinds of suggestions to replace customers' mispelled product names

DiverDude 01-29-2013 12:20 AM

It's not fancy, but it's clean and uncluttered. Looks good.

The Grizz 01-29-2013 12:22 AM

Looks like there's a little post padding going on here...............BRAD!!!

Site looks great for a first run despite any errors, they will get fixed in time I don't doubt.

Still need to add a few products like the Waveline pumps but very happy to see your site up again.

normally I provide a document for edits, but this was on my lunch and I just posted as I found them. And let's face it, I don't need post pads, I talk enough already.

Jakegr 01-29-2013 01:05 AM

Love the new site! Miles ahead of the old one.

One thing I noticed was that for filtering protein skimmers by price the brackets are:

0-1000
1000-2000
2000-3000
... up to 10 000.

It would probably be best to divide it more like this for obvious reasons.

Under 200
Under 400
Under 600
Under 800
Under 1000
Under 1500
Under 2000
Over 2000

Xadieu 01-29-2013 05:56 AM

Not too bad at all, i like the crumbs and the site maps very easy to navigate.

madchild 01-29-2013 05:00 PM

looks good!

tim the toolman 01-29-2013 07:43 PM

Site looks good. Easy to navigate.
I'm confused though. I've never been to the store so I also have no idea, but the name kicked around canreef is always concept aquatics. The website is concept aquariums?

tim the toolman 01-29-2013 07:43 PM

Keep in mind though it takes very little to confuse me

Got it. Slightly less confused now  I think:neutral:

moppy 02-02-2013 11:54 PM

Site looks pretty good so far but I do have a few suggestions for you.

1) I would like to see the entire top section have a different coloured background than the rest of the site. Maybe a blue strip. Doesn't have to be much...

2) I would drop the home button (is redundant given the breadcrumb trail and fact that you can click on your logo) and make the about us and contact us have the same look as web support. The buttons in the top right just don't fit - colours or shape

3) the cart button on the top is a different size (maybe due to the shadow) but it should be consistent with the search and login shapes.

I'll leave it at that. The main banner area is very important as it is the first thing people see and will be present on all pages. Love the colours and overall theme, although the "t's" look a lot like "l's"

I know how hard it is and the work that's required to create a new website as I teach web design and do a little on the side. Best of luck with getting it up and running!
