DIY ghetto nano zeovit reactor

I slapped together a ghetto but very functional zeovit reactor. I was originally going to use an underwater filter but I'd have to put my hands in the tank every time to stir it up.

Instead I used the low flow (50gph) pump and some stuff I had kicking around to make a bonafide reactor

It even has the slider cleaning mechanism thing. slide it up n down to clean the media

parts needed:
2" PVC pipe
1/2" x 12" "Multi-Flex" Riser
pieces of canister filter screen (cut to size)
2" abs slip cap
1/2" threaded cap
fluval 1plus filter pump

this is from a rena xp canister filter

I cut the filter screen to size with a dremel, then cut some of the threads off the piping so I could put the cap on far enough to hold the mesh tightly

I didn't glue any of it. There's so little waterflow going through it and it's running inside the tank. If any of it leaks it doesn't matter

You slide the platform up and down to rinse the mulm off the zeovit media. Has to be done like once a day
note that I cut off the corrugated part of the "riser" pipe so that there was more room for media.

This is it installed in the aquarium. It's right inside the aquarium so no chances of any leaks or such. completely idiotproof

oh and there was a step I didn't take a picture of. I took a piece of 1/2" pvc and cut it into a kinda "table". It was tied to the sliding mechanism with fishing line. The idea was to allow the water to flow out of the hole cut for the pump. Otherwise the cap would have rested against the pump hole and not allowed any water to flow through.

Sweet reactor. Can't see why that wouldn't work perfectly.

Don't post on Zeovit.com or you'll put Marine tech out of business LOL
