Back in the Game
Ive been in the hobby for 7 years now with the same 6' Tank, almost shut down 3 times. I make my own Calcium and KH dosing materials in Bulk. Looking forward to getting LPS and SPS corals rocking again.
Updated some of my equipment including a new doser by kamoer New XF-350 jets (wow the flow is amazing, how I have been missing this for all these years) working on dropping nitrates so stock can begin to be added. I considered getting an APEX but feel it will over complicate the system and could be problematic if things start to go wrong. KISS (keep it simple stupid) is what I've always been told in this hobby. Looking forward to sharing progress as things begin to develop. |

Update
So after changing out my doser, my skimmer and doing a lot of water changes using carbon dosing and constant water perimeter checks, my tank is finally back to a good place. We added a slew of new fish this weekend from wrasses to schooling and angles.

I think that you should still install a monitoring system as it will save you trouble down the road you can work out the kinks early before you put livestock in. I would suggest just using the monitoring system for your lights, return pump and heaters right now then add equipment as your tank moves towards stability.

Sweet! Get some photos up, then we can see the progress

I highly considered the monitoring system, I hate they all run on a pc based systems. Having a tank 7 years the tank was great when I dedicated the time.nownim back to feeling the love for the work load. I just returned from 17 days in Europe and had my young neighbor (who knows nothing about tanks) feed and change filter socks and it ran perfect with levels stable. I’m sticking with the KISS method dosing only carbon, KH and CA running regular tests weekly. |
Tank update
Moved over the winter and started with a brand new 6’ foot, same tank as my previous system. I mainly ditched the old system due to a long battle of bryopsi in my overflows which is now gone.
My sump is now in the basement, what a difference in sound and smell. Currently moving towards a stocked tank with zoas and acans. This weekend we installed a trigger systems sapphire 34, been working on dial it in, had some serious gurgling issues. Next up will be our 60 gallon frag tank in the basement which will be tied into the main display system. https://ibb.co/PxJ7zbW |
