Did it ... AGAIN

 must remember to plug ATO back in after messing with tank

This is the second time this month I've left it unplugged for a couple days
Thankfully it only drives my Sg up by 1 point - loses 3 gallons/>3% in 2 days

Think I'll rig a new LED for a low sump level, or a float and alarm. After all, I am getting older

Nothing like floats/alarms/timers to help us old peeps

My set up has the best alarm. I witness micro bubbles being blown into the tank. Luckily my return section only goes down 1/4 gallon before I notice I've forgotten to turn the ato back on. Lol.

No bubbles here yet. I think it'd have to drop at least 10 gallons before that happened.
Definitely is a drawback having such a large return section. I think mine holds 16 gallons

Me too. My return pump section is only 5x6x7".

Holy crap, that's not even 1 gallon
Mine's a bit overkill @ 13.25g 17.25*17.75*10 running height, but I like the extra water - I don't need to remove any from the DT during WCs.
I could actually run it @ 18.5g but, if I'm thinking correctly, the lower it is the easier it is on the pump.

Problem solved
I didn't want to install a float switch that would always be submerged just to have an alarm go off if this ever happens again.
Instead I installed a switch and a flashing 12vdc led. If I unplug anything I turn on the led. If I forget to plug something back in from now on I'm smart like a bag of hammers

 That's hilarious!

Yep. Stability is key for SPS, and I figure if I can control salinity in a smaller window, why not? If you take 600 mL out of my tank the ATO kicks in.

I love my apex. Float for the sump being too low, float for sump being too high, and float for the ato reservoir. I programmed in timers so if one of the levels stays too low or too high for too long, then it starts playing the death march, it texts me, and sends me an email!

If I manually turn anything off like the ATO, I get a text message. I can log in from the road and fix it!
