I will only bring the higher end pieces if I have someone interested in buying them. Not worth the risk unless I have a buyer. What are you interested in? I will be bringing a couple small WD's but not the HW or Acrolandia.

Frogger 11-01-2018 04:31 AM

What's a frag of Acrolandia going for these days?
Is this the TGC Acrolandia or the Cali Kid?

Scythanith 11-01-2018 07:15 PM

I believe it is the Cali Kid. I honestly wouldn't sell this one. Once it gets a little bigger I'd make a frag of it and sell it for $500.

Frogger 11-01-2018 11:54 PM

Cool. Let us know when you are fraggin.

Scythanith 11-02-2018 01:44 AM

Well I will once there is someone willing to pay :) Otherwise I will let it grow and live a long and happy life not knowing the clippers :)

Cleaning up!?

Scythanith 01-07-2019 04:13 AM

Yup, that’s me cleaning up. I’m growing tired of the tank and I need to do something to keep me in it to win it lol!

Scythanith 11-09-2019 11:37 PM

Tank went through a rough spell. Coming out the other end of it, will post some pictures and a story maybe.

DKoKoMan 11-10-2019 09:01 AM

Uh-oh... hopefully you got a handle on it now. Sharing is caring

Scythanith 11-10-2019 10:46 AM

Started off with a slow decline in sps health a solid year ago. Tested for everything, inspected corals with a microscope, checked water sources/chemicals/salt mix, etc. to no avail. I just waited it out. Once the death, ~50% of the sps finished up, I pruned and waited. There was a bloom of cloves across the rockwork that became a big problem. I spent months researching treatments and building up the courage to dose the entire system. Finally, after a big dose of fenbendazole, the tank was close and gsp free. Then came the inevitable algae bloom. I handled it in stride with water changes and within two t over reacting. I’m coming out the end of it now. Corals are coming back strong. Lost a couple things that make me sad.

In the end I don’t know what happened. I personally feel I motivated the damage as best as possible and am going to come out with Project Mayhem V.2 :)

bauder1986 11-11-2019 07:07 PM

Good on you for sticking through it though.

Scythanith 11-11-2019 11:14 PM

Thanks bauder, no chance in hell I don't stick through it. It's part of my basement!

Skimmerking 11-12-2019 08:22 PM

sorry to hear man I know you have been going strong for many years with this hobby. I am coming back after 4-5
years away from it and I started to read your story and now hmmmmmmm maybe I will go fresh lol yaaaaa nope

Scythanith 11-13-2019 03:54 AM

Thanks, I'm in San Diego right now and will be swinging by AquaSD (thanks Colby for telling me they are here). Hope to bring some decent stuff home!

DKoKoMan 11-13-2019 04:03 AM

Sweet! Post some photos. Ugh it sucks when there is random losses that occur. I unfortunately just had a bit of an issue when my Neptune ATK acted up. Lost a bunch of sps unfortunately.

I’m going through similar, losing a good chunk of SPS and can’t stop it. Not sure what worked for you? I have been doing water changes, tested all parameters and everything is spot on. Is it possible that the salinity swing would take its toll still weeks after?

Scythanith 11-24-2019 09:33 PM

Anything is possible with sps unfortunately. Fart the wrong way around the tank and one will RTN :)

Scythanith 12-14-2019 10:36 PM

I'm going to swing by BSC tomorrow and pick up more clean up crew. Things are starting to really take off, but I don't want to place anything until the algae is near non-existent.

I tossed another BK skimmer into the sump to see if it can pull anything additional out of the water but honestly I think the sand needs a vacuum. Anytime I bumped into it while scrapping the glass a little puff of detritus kicked up, time for a cleaning!

Scythanith 02-09-2020 04:46 PM

Things are back at 90%! I will have available SPS: JF Home Wrecker, JF Fox Flame, RR rainbow loom, ASD frogskin, tri-color bonsai, hellfire Milli, JBC Soldier 76. LPS: Large Tyree Space Invader pectina, meteor shower cyphastrea, WWC Favia, war Favia. Zoa's & palys: GI Joe palythoa grandis, Armor of God, Arrmagedon, CB moneyshot, Tyree Space Monster, Rastas.

Beautiful shots. The jack-o-lantern has such a sweet pattern to it. I wish mine would grow faster!

Skimmerking 04-27-2020 09:28 PM

Hmmmmmm I think I seriously need to rethink coming back to this hobby

It's always an up and down battle. But when it works, it's rewarding. I am excited for the trades I have lined up right now and for me it's half about filling the tank and half about collecting corals like Pokemon lol!

juanlien 05-06-2020 06:18 PM

Loving this thread, I think this is a very interesting discussionhttps://babang.xyz/assets/11/o.png

Scythanith 11-19-2020 11:32 PM

Thanks juanlien! It has been a helluva ride so far!

Scythanith 02-13-2021 04:30 PM

Been a while but things are looking better. Sorry for the poor quality pics, they are from my phone. I will crack out the camera if people want decent shots.

Looking great! Man i'm so jealous of that massive space invader pectina! Love that piece.

Scythanith 02-18-2021 02:04 PM

It's a beast! It has grown a good inch in all directions since the tank righted itself.
