fellow Ontario Members

How many are there of us on here ?

shrimpchips 11-05-2009 02:34 PM

Not many but a few :)

wickedfrags 11-05-2009 03:10 PM

Personally I am doing what I can to get more active Ontario members...where else would you participate after all???

Nebthet 11-06-2009 03:15 AM

I'm from Ontario here... sadly I have perhaps come across maybe 4 other people from Ontario on this site.. most are from BC and Alberta.

I am glad someone is trying to do something to get more active Ontario members on here. I think it is great

rayjay 11-06-2009 06:00 AM

I'm not sure that it matters as I don't care where help comes from when I need it, out west or right here in Ontario.
Also, I just received an order from Red Coral Aquarium in Calgary.
If it wasn't for all the westerners I wouldn't have found what I ordered or the level of service I received from RCA.

purelife 11-06-2009 01:18 PM

Ontario here! I wish i was out west right now my snowboard is itching to touch snow...

I'm the same as Ray where the help and advice comes from it doesn't matter help is help.

wickedfrags 11-06-2009 03:00 PM

I think you will find canreef members provide good quality advice in timely manner - lots of experienced members here that participate rather than just review the threads.

Remember to refer a Ontario reefer to canreef next time you are at the LFS.

carnut 02-15-2010 11:36 PM

Alma here. Actually bought a few things from members and sponsors. Much freindlier here then some of the local clubs:redface:

BWI 02-15-2010 11:45 PM

Whitby here

Keith T 02-15-2010 11:50 PM

Brooklin, Ontario here.

corpusse 02-16-2010 12:08 AM

Mississauga here too. While I do still enjoy "the other board" since it is local. Canreef has obviously become the most popular board in Canada.

Not sure what really happened to "the other board". I don't see near as many people on there anymore. I was living in London/Woodstock but recently moved to Calgary. I switched to Canreef when I moved here and really enjoy living somewhere with an active reef community :thumb:

muck 02-16-2010 04:00 AM

It could be your local board as well... more and more peeps from Eastern Canada are contributing here all the time.
Everyone is more than welcome!!

P.S. Welcome to Canreef Keith T!!

Acrylic 02-16-2010 07:11 AM

Mississauga here. The only advantage I see to "the other board" is the large number of classifieds from my area. I am glad to see that there is another board that is thriving and hope to see more from the GTA in the future. Also, if anyone in the GTA needs some acrylic work done, don't hesitate to give me a shout.

wickedfrags 02-16-2010 01:18 PM

Long list of reasons, none worth getting into. Main thing is you found this site.

like haveing the head guy tell you he doesn't care someone screwed you out of 200 dollars and then banning your account, because you sent him e mail asking him for his help on finding the guy to get your money back.

Systemtool 03-04-2010 01:08 AM

Kingston, Ontario here.
Just joined the site, I like how there are a ton of sponsors on this site. Lots of great Canadian suppliers.

Fishlips 03-04-2010 03:13 AM

Burlington here. Mostly lurk but plan on participating more.

or that phytoplankton really isn't that bad

then advirtised under my user name for saying so for every different post is:

people should take my advice with a grain of salt

mr.wilson 03-08-2010 04:25 PM

The climate on Western Sea Board is better :)

MikeInToronto 03-08-2010 06:54 PM

I was a member here many years back but either my account was closed or I can't remember what it was (which is more likely).
I wish there were more Ontario people here. The advice might be the same whether it's from the east side or the west, but when someone recommends a local place to shop, it's nice to have it local to me rather than Calgary :D

The "other place" is good for local sponsor ads, though.

rayjay 03-08-2010 07:06 PM

That could be solved by getting more local people from your area to join and participate here.
With the lack of traffic now at the other site compared to what it used to have, there must be a lot of people out there that could be posting here.

I came to this site (and the other one) to meet local people. I wish I knew more people to bring here.

BTW, anyone who feels like sharing can PM me and let me know what happened at the other site. I returned there after 6 years absence and everyone was gone!

rayjay 03-08-2010 07:40 PM

Fastest way to meet local people to you would be to go to the MAST meeting on Wednesday night.
Marine Aquarium Society of Toronto

lol AJ is a classic no names but I heard stories even from the moderators on how this guy is a crook, anyone need to know a few stories about this guy send me a pm, he is just far up his --- since suposibly his father was a marine biologist. he also thinks his opinions are best and what you should and shouldn't keep in your tank, I challenged openly on a thread and he banned me because he couldn't keep up with his stupidity or the questions I thew at him, guess he realized I know a little bit more about him than he thinks!!

but anyways this seems a more down to earth website !!!

phyto4life 03-10-2010 09:19 PM

same here I got banned for saying a person can have a mandarin in less then a 75G tank I guess that really ****ed him off because he said he wouldn't go smaller then a 225G lol

but now I have a mandarin in a 29G

I guess I was wrong

MikeInToronto 03-10-2010 10:05 PM

I've noticed he's very opinionated (e.g.: vs SWC, etc.)

titus 03-11-2010 01:57 PM

Hello,

Guys and gals, welcome. Thanks for the compliments. However, may I ask that we please keep our discussions without naming specific names.

Titus

acropora1981 03-12-2010 06:10 PM

I'm also here now... mostly because I've had it up to HERE *top of my head* with another Canadian, Toronto based forum that will remain unnamed... wink wink we all know what I'm sayin' here.

wickedfrags 03-12-2010 08:12 PM

Ontario members should be certain to mention canreef at the LFS.

Nebthet 03-13-2010 05:00 AM

Welcome to Canreef Acro... glad to see you made it over here :)
