kent kalk

Bought some of this to add to my ATO reservoir. Those of you that are using it, are you just dissolving 1 tblsp per gallon in ro/di, or going thru the whole rig-a-ma-role of letting it settle etc. as per instructions?

Years ago I added it to my reservoir and it never really did dissolve. Worked much better when I used a kalk reactor.

the directions require mixing it, then let sit for a few hours. Afterwards skim the crust on top, put middle water in ato, get rid of mud on bottom. Hmmm

I would follow the instructions.

Mix in RO water and let it sit until the water is clear.
Then syphon off the clear mix water to just above the sediment and add the clear mix to your top off.

FYI for next time you can buy hydrated lime from Rona at a fraction of the cost of the same stuff that kent or two little fishies costs.

Do you hydrated lime exactly the same as kalk?

Yes. It's the same product. "graymont high calcium hydrated lime" Ca(OH)2. Found it at Rona in bowness in the lumber yard.

PS I would suggest sharing a bag between people. It's enough to fill 2 x 20 litre (5gal) buckets. Handle with care.
