Coral ID - Gorgonian Type

Bought this piece yesterday. It's in a bit rough shape but polyps have come out nicely on healthy tissue. Body is cream coloured with brownish polyps. Trying to figure out what it is so I can best take care of it. Just under 2'. Any ideas?

Fortunately for you, it does look like a photosynthetic gorg which are not too hard to keep alive. NPS gorgs are next to impossible to keep for any length of time.

I hope you're right. I've got it in a good flow and good light spot. The Tigertails have taken to it as their new stompin' grounds. Any idea on a genus?

Muricea laxa: Requires moderate light, very good water quality, (no algae) and moderate water movement.

Could also be a Plexaurella, which is strong light, very good water quality, and moderate water movement.

i don't think it's plexaurella. if the 'holes' where the polyps are, are slits, then it's plex. but plex grows longer straighter branches....
but it's definitely a light lover, with med high random flow.
nice coral.

Definitely round. Body is a very creamy-purple. Polyp is coffee & cream colour. Sure are alot that look like this. Part of it is dead so it ain't primo but $25 seemed a good deal. Photosynthetic is good to hear & it's responding well.

The Tigertail Seahorse have taken to this coral nicely.
