Freshwater Plant ID Please

I picked this up a few weeks ago and spaced on what it was called. I think it may be duck weed, does anybody recognize it? If anyone in the Red Deer area wants some let me know, as it grows very fast.

It looks like Duck Weed, but it's hard to tell without something for a size reference
Does it have individual roots, or a root system ?

I'm gonna throw it out there and say it looks like Spirodela polyrhiza
If the edges start to turn red under good lighting, that's it ... Giant Duckweed

Each group has an individual root that hangs down.

You'll be able to ID them better with web pics
There are one group that have clusters of leafs, and another that have individual leafs
Plus the size is a factor
Tiny stuff, like HC size, or Giant, with leafs bigger than the size of a pencil eraser
Oh, there's also soft leafs, and rubbery leafs

Sorry I can't give you an actual ID , but I'll say it's definately a duckweed of some kind

It's been awhile, so have a look here for some good ID help

If it grows fast and cover the surface, get rid of it. It blocks the light, cuts down fresh air exchange.

That, plus it traps food, and gets into and all over your equipment, and all over your arms etc

inhabitants in some of the smaller pond simply got choke to death when the surface is cover by duck weed.
