Coral GOT

There's a bit of warfare going on. My bonsai keeps spreading rather than growing vertically. I just noticed it's pushing against some Bam Bams, and there are strands of mucously something where they are touching. Is the spreading growth telling me something about the bonsai's placement? Not enough / too much light? How can I stem its growth in that area to protect the zoas?

You could try and flake it up with nippers near the zoa's or if that's not working try some thick calc paste. Don't get it on the zoa's though.

Your bansai placement looks fine as there is new upwards growth. Many/most SPS lay down a big base to support future upwards growth.

Move the zoas

That makes sense, haha why didn’t I think of it? I think the zoas are on their little rock too. Thanks Greg. I guess sometimes I overthink things

Those sps are invasive

Actually, Chris, I think those Bam Bams I got from you are weaklings

I wish my Sps would take out zoas!

Well, despite the fine advice I received here, I was lazy & busy with other things and didn't do anything so the invasive bonsai took out three polyps and is over another one.
Sheesh

In this case let it grow over! The sps growth is more desirable and I wouldn’t want to stunt the growth of the bonsai.
