TDS meter reading
hi all,
I checked my RO water's TDS as 13ppm. is that too high???? is that safe for reef? thank you. |
Probably OK in the short term, but i've heard anything above 5 ppm means you should change the filters.
|
You must not be running a DI because it should then be 0
Here in Surrey I am getting (2 months ago) 14 out of the tap and 0 out of the DI Has that meter ever been calibrated? |
yes it was calibrated. The filter is brand new. It is just a RO unit without DI. Is it gd enough?

Here mate check out this seller on eBay Canada,
http://cgi.ebay.ca/D-I-REVERSE-OSMOS...item3a5fb12d6f For 12 bucks you can add the DI chamber to your unit. |
Personally I wouldn't bother with RO in Vancouver and just go with DI with a couple of pre-filters, that is what I do and I get roughly 300-400 gallons out of a TWP cartridge. I have never seen the TDS go above 18ppm in my area, and with the new filtration system installed by the GVRD the sediment issue with our water in the winter has more or less been eliminated.

Thank you for all your help. I will go and get myself a di filter.
