what is it with this hobby...

I so want to make one with a Surflow modded Maxi Jet... but I can't find a timer and know the maxijet will likely die in a week...

Making one with a Tunze doesn't make sense, it ends up almost the same price even withthe 6055 w/ controller...

They are pretty mesmerizing I'll tell you that. I watch the polyps go back and forth, back and forth, back and forth and I can speed it up or slow it down if I want

I love my wavebox. Something quite zen about watching the polyps gently sway to and fro.

That makes me sick watching that lol. I can make waves in my 90g with just 1 vortech i plan on adding a second one soon :D. Not a big fan of the waves though so i will prob just set it to reef crest mode. Also the wave boxes take up a lot of space..talk about eye sore!

How do you get that to work? I've 1 vortech in my 90 but cannot do waves.. I just use the reef crest mode myself. I've tried the wave setting but without a second vortech I didn't think it would work... well you sort of can but it's just a bit of a wave surge in the direction away from the pump.

I find there's tanks with waves that look amazing, and tanks with waves that look so terrible. I think it's best when the waves are slow and gentle, just moving the corals back and forth, with enough time to fully sway forward and back. Most I see are so rough and rigid, moving the coral back and forth really fast and aggressively.
