Koralia pump leaking water down cord!!!!

Just a note of caution to all. I found my K3 not working the other day. Upon further inspection, the plug is all fried!! Had a drip loop in cord too. Was mildly shorting at the wall plug and fried the plug itself. So, I unpluged the pump. Left pump in tank for a few days. Today I pull out and the cord end on the pump is wet!! Nothing dripping down the cord. Cut cord open and its wet all inside. The cord was acting like a straw allowing Salt Water right down to the plug.

Just a word of caution. This could have burned my house down!

Short between Hot and Neutral, GFI will not do anything in that scenario, so ya GFI working properly.

Yes, cuz, kinda like a siphon.More Capillary action, where the water weeps down the inside of the cable to the plug end...
