Pallet of salt

I notice our friends in Edmonton put together an order for a pallet of salt from J&L. That is around 24 pails. I think it was shipped by Reimer. I am wondering if there would be any value in us doing the same.

AJ_77 05-16-2004 01:57 AM

They ended up paying around $60 delivered? What is the cheapest price in town lately for IO?

Everybody seems to sell the smaller pails, but this is 200 gallons worth.

Let's try this again:

If this is the correct price, I'd be in for a bucket or two. But I doubt we'd have the success and slick organization of the Edmonton group...

DiscusZ 05-16-2004 06:21 AM

I would be in for 1 or possibly 2 pails as well..

Canadian Man 05-16-2004 07:00 AM

2 for me as well.

Edmonton Salt Order:
http://www.canreef.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9420

Quite the production - someone picked up the whole pallet at the trucking company, and then unloaded it at a distribution point by forklift. The pallet was over 1500 lbs for 24. Price per bucket just under $62.

Bob, you got a truck?

Buccaneer 05-17-2004 01:05 AM

I could use a couple

Delphinus 05-17-2004 04:52 AM

Two for me too, please...

EmilyB 05-17-2004 05:47 AM

Six for me (Kent), but I can't lift them.

Kent has slightly higher CA values, is that it? But just as heavy... I'd be in for that.

So, 16 or so buckets now? We still need someone to coordinate, pickup and distribute. Anyone got a flatbed?

Cap'n 05-17-2004 08:27 AM

If we could get it delivered to the studio where I work I've got the space and the forklift we can use.
Count me in for one bucket as well.

Cap'n 05-17-2004 08:29 AM

If someone does the ordering and money part I can handle the distribution.

The last time a group from Edmonton picked up a 20 pail pallet of salt, we had a van. Reimer staff helped take the pails off the pallet to load in the van. No forklift needed, just strong people

I expect the same thing this Wednesday, only we will have a car and Beth is going to bring her company truck. We are NOT bringing the whole freaking pallet with us

Bob I 05-17-2004 02:47 PM

Since I started this I am in for one too, but I leave coordination to someone else. I just wanted to see if we were as good as our Edmonton friends.

AJ_77 05-17-2004 04:12 PM

Then what we need is a few more pails, and someone with a big fat charge card...

Bob I 05-17-2004 04:16 PM

If the charge card is all we are worried about.

Cap'n 05-18-2004 08:24 AM

I don't see any reason why we couldn't have Reimer or whatever carrier we choose to use (I know a few) to delivery directly to the studio and then everyone can come pick up their salt. Where is this coming from again?

AJ_77 05-18-2004 03:52 PM

Where is your studio? If they can get the pallet off the truck for you there, then great! J&L is in Vancouver.

Get out your VISA there, Bob! Cash good for you? Wait, we need commitments for a few more buckets...

andestang 05-18-2004 04:40 PM

I'll take one or two

Cap'n 05-19-2004 12:31 AM

Studio Y Creations is in the northeast, very close to the Coast Plaza Hotel. We can unload and store the pallet there easy. The receptionists Dad runs a shipping comany. I can find out how much it would be to ship from Van or maybe we can piggy-back with another load. Any idea of a timeline?

AJ_77 05-19-2004 08:30 PM

Well, if everybody who said "one or two" does take 2, we have 20 (I think). Anyone else want in on this deal? Mitch? Dave? Ross? Mike?

And the next question: Anyone want to take charge, and make this happen? (You can tell it's not gonna be me, not this time... )

Canadian Man 05-19-2004 10:08 PM

I did the pallet of sand last time so it's not going to be me either. My visa don't got enough room anyway

Cap'n 05-20-2004 05:34 AM

Please see new thread.

So how many buckets do we need?
Has any one ordered from J&L before? Maybe they can contact and place the order once it is confirmed on our end.
Is there any way J&L can give us a price including shipping? If not, I can handle getting it here.
And we need someone to pay. Do we have a volunteer confirmed? I can collect as I distribute, if that works.
