designing a wall for a 10ft in -wall tank....looking for design ideas
am helping a friend build his in wall aquarium, basically the wall is 12ft x 9ft and the tank is a 10ft tank everything stored underneathe.
we are now looking at how the wall is going to be designed and doing the google pics thing and taking ideas we like from each pic. so i figured i would see if anyone has any ideas, the wall the tank is in also shares a room with a theatre room. tile stone faux stone panels paint/trim texture the list is endless lol we have some ideas in mind bt if someone has any cool ideas please post them or if theres any pics/links would be much appreciated:) thanks!! |
I would do wood paneling similar to lastlight if I did a tank like that, I think what he did was stunning and with space like what your friend has the possibilities are endless
|
I would have a curtain of some kind if its in a home theater room. Giant blue lights can ruin the mood lol
|
My personal preference is a just a regular wall painted in a dark color and having a dark wood trim around the opening for the tank. Tile, stone, etc makes the walls look busy and takes away the viewers focus on the tank. Dark colors will not reflect light in the theater room either. But in the end it's what looks good to the owner not what I think.

Is the tank going to be flush with the wall or sticking out a bit? If it's flush I'd just go with the window idea where the whole wall is uniform but the opening for the tank is trimmed with a wood or tile accent that matches the room.
If it sticks out a little go with tile or stone. Wood paneling is nice but reflective in a home theatre room |

Some friends were talking the other night, about in-wall tanks, and the con-census seems to be that you need to have access from the front as well as the back.(a hinged door)
|
There are very cool too

soo as we buy a house, and I have funds to start something of that magnitude, that is what I will be doing is something like that, but have a small fish room behind with a 40-90g frag tank!
Now if I could just find a time in my 6-5:30 work day to get to the bank to talk about a mortgage! |
