PM's replied to.

gobytron 08-24-2011 07:50 PM

how often do you reccomend changing bulbs?

DiverDude 08-25-2011 02:42 PM

Manufacturer specs the bulbs for 4500 hrs. At 8 hrs/day, that's 562 days. Personally, I like to swap them at no more than 1 year.

gobytron 08-25-2011 05:48 PM

Jeez...
I find my stuff looking light starved after 6 months with this fixture.
I think some active cooling woulkd make a huge difference in this.

I ran a 6 bulb for a while, the 8 bulb not only puts out more par, but your ability to dial in the colour you like is just not doable in halides or for under 1 million dollars going the led route.

DiverDude 08-26-2011 03:42 AM

The advantage to the 8 bulb units is that you can fine tune your colours. However, if, for example, you have just ONE Fiji Purple bulb and it starts to go off, you're really going to notice it.

Of course it also really depends on what you have in your tank. I've got SPS that was thriving under 14 month old bulbs. Go figure !

lapdog2020 08-27-2011 05:38 PM

Bulbs most of the time last 6 to 8 months for the best results.

If your ever interested in LEDs let me know I'm have some made for me here in Edmonton from a manufacture and at a price that was awesome if you like to know more about them pm me and I could send you some specks on them and yes there going to retail some time over the winter.

ElGuappo 08-27-2011 07:09 PM

whats the total width on this unit?

DiverDude 08-27-2011 08:20 PM

48"

Flash 08-27-2011 09:17 PM

width, not length! lol!

DiverDude 08-28-2011 12:06 AM

Well, when I look at it; from left to right, it's 48" wide. From front to back, it's 19" deep.

Bump

ponokareefer 08-30-2011 05:56 PM

With this fixture, is there a way to turn on the lights at different times, or do all 8 lights have to be turned on at the same time? I prefer to do a dusk and dawn lighting that I can presently do, but my 2 150W MH's just create way too much heat.

DiverDude 09-07-2011 04:16 PM

There are 2 switches that each control 4 bulbs -so yeah, you can stage the lights.

DiverDude 09-08-2011 06:41 PM

$300 Come and get it.
