Wow...that was the strangest growth sequence ever!....I can't believe your tank grew into a leg....with a cut none the less.

It was a nice tank by the way....enjoy the cut leg. ;)

Thanks Daryl. I wasn't even tryin to frag it. I realized after posting todays pics that pictures don't really look very good if you don't clean the glass! I was just looking over your TOTM thread again & that 2nd to last coral pic page is awesome. One day maybe these corals may look that good... likely in the big build though. I'm still kinda hoping that raising the light up will have a darkening effect on the purples.

fishytime 07-24-2011 01:52 PM

Ahh, but they're thirsty for BRS & vodka to wash them down. The 1 purple acro on the top right has 7 branches above the surface now.

The water is cloudy from coral snow this am. I'll take a clearer pic later. It's very cool to be able to see growth this way, looking back over a few months.

holy crap man wow is all i can say :):) time for a bigger tank me thinks or frag the bujesus out of that monster lol good job:):)

spawn 10-24-2011 10:56 PM

Cheers, it is starting to get a little touchy in there. The basement is in fulll reno mode right now, with any luck the 150 will be up by xmas. I had 4 friends over yesterday to move the tank into it's room. I meant to take some progress shots of the reno, but truthfully I can't really be bothered. I just like tearing old things apart & making them new again. I'll try & put some on the build thread before drywall.:]

A couple of side notes.
1)I haven't been able to keep my CA much above 360 for like 2 months. I think its too high demand for the volume of water because I'm using 2 part & salinity goes up weekly.
2) I saw red bugs on 2 acro's in there last wed, I'll get interceptor this week. The weird part is I haven't put anything in in months & months.
3)I've been too busy for the last couple of weeks, & haven't even done a water change for 2 weeks.

globaldesigns 10-24-2011 11:18 PM

Hmmmm... One question for ya! What's your secret?

Very nice, I want my tank to look like that!

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If your pH is in the magic zone to a bit on the high side you don't need to keep the calc as high. If you think upping it will help, what about putting your top up water through a kalk reactor and use less 2-part to dial it in?

I've had the same thing. I've treated all my colonies, treated the tank.... saw nothing for a long time, didn't add anything... then bam! LRB! Wtf? Sometimes all it takes is a few missed bugs to eventually form a population a few months down the road. I typically don't worry too much about them if I don't see their numbers rising... then again, I don't have many smooth skinned acros that they seem to like.

Can you give some detail about your tank? ligthing? is it a low nutriment system like zeovit?

I am asking because I see your pink birdsnest is at the bottom of your tank and seem to be thriving. how tall is the aquarium?

Again very nice aquarium!

thanks

It's a very LNS, i get readings of 0 for PO4 on a hanna, & zero for NO3 on elos. But is some in there cause of that leafy algae crap on the back wall. I thikn it comes from the SB or the rock?? It's a red sea max 250 running stock skimmer, two mp 10wes, 2 koralia 750, with a tek 6 bulb & arcylic shroud with a mirror finish on the inside of the shroud. No mechanical filtration is used what so ever. I dose several zeo products on a schedule, & dose vodka, but run no zeolites, there are no reactors or any external stuff on this system. I run 2 bags of chemi pure elite, 1 bag of purigen, & about 1/3 cup of rowa phos. It has a profilux for 2 part, MG is dosed manually, & tunze ATO.... lighting is 2 on for 11.5 hours FP in front SB in back the center 4 are SB SB NG FP on for 9 hours... & I think that's it:twised:

reefermadness 10-25-2011 03:17 AM

Looking great.......I'm sure the new tank will be spectacular.

Just a small FYI though...a skimmer is considered mechanical filtration.

lastlight 10-25-2011 03:11 PM

That's looking jam-packed and super sweet. Your clam doesn't look like it has a choice but to stay put lol.

Myka 10-25-2011 03:55 PM

reefmaster12345 10-25-2011 04:28 PM

daniella3d 10-25-2011 04:38 PM

Thanks a lot!

Do you think that chemi pure and purigen are making a big difference?

What zeo products are you dosing if you don't mind me asking?

Ya I get that......no socks or floss here either. That is just something else to do on the tank that if planed properly is not needed.

spawn 10-26-2011 12:46 AM

thx everybody.

I posted it awhile ago on the zeo site, i have the same name over there. I've been pretty fortunate in that colors have always been quite good, I use the zeo to try & tweak them. I can say that I'm happy with them except I wish my purples were darker/deeper.

spawn 11-13-2011 10:21 PM

Not really growth, but tried doing a couple top down shots before a WC today.

correct me if Im mistaken , but the clam in the second pic is either a derasa or squamosa .....Im not positive cuz I cant see the shell....

wicked top downs Sean!!!

reefermadness 11-15-2011 12:33 AM

It's definitely not a derasa.....maybe a squamosa.

spawn 11-15-2011 01:36 PM

Yes it is really colored like that, that's why I bought it, it's the coolest one i've seen at a store & I have no idea what kind it is. It's got very large scutes on the side of it's shell. I'll try to get a pic of it's shell later today, but these shots are from a cell phone.

If it is really red than you have something quite rare I would imagine. You should post a picture in the clam/mollusk forum on RC and see what they say.

Again...nice stuff.

ponokareefer 11-15-2011 09:17 PM

How many chromis did you start with and how many do you have now?

How long have you had the chromis together?
