First attempt at macro shots (graphic intense)

So I bought a second hand set of extension tubes and a 50mm f1.8 V1 lens and this is what I got!

Nice!

I'd say it looks like a good investment!

Don't really notice much about extension tubes other than what they look like. I notice you said "tubes" plural, do you daisy chain them or is that each one is a specific match to a particular lens?

Now I want to go buy an extension tube for my D70.. Thanks a lot!!! :p

HOLY Crap man that looks great love the Ric's

Fantastic!

Thanks guys! I have Tamron AF teleconverter 2x and a Canon EF25 Extension tube. I haven't tried them both together. The extension tube is dramatic. I could only get pics of things 4-5 inches or nearer to the front of the glass. The Teleconverter was a bit more neutral. I would recommend that first.

Wow those are awesome!

You can daisy chain extension tubes as they come in various sizes.

One_Divided 01-12-2011 10:24 PM

pics 5,6,7,8,9 are teleconverter and the rest are extension tube. Both pretty inexpensive. Especially used.

lastlight 01-12-2011 10:25 PM

Rics especially look bangin'. That sure is cheaper than the 105mm and looks sweet!

Nice pics! I would lock your doors, as you may find that your camera and some of those corals somehow disappear.

Kenko extension tubes comes in a set of 12mm 20mm and 36mm
They can be stacked at any combo of them.

The only down side for Canon users with EF-S lenses is that they require a mod in order to fit lenses such as the 17-85.
This is easily accomplished with a knife, dremel, sandpaper etc.

In store they retail for close to $200, but can be found on ebay for 100 new from asia.

I would say it's an A. Valida .. Pretty common, but can take a while to colour up!

cwatkins 01-13-2011 07:18 PM

What exact lighting were these taken under?

Wow. Any actinic supplementation for the photos? They look like they're glowing nicely. My 2x 14K Pheonix 250w make the tank look a little blue-ish. Mind you I'm running an electronic ballast.
