Nice! I like black clowns. Look terrific in an RBTA.

It seems your nem has also found a spot like mine.... on the back side of my rock wall ha ha!

tidal_waters 12-21-2010 10:52 PM

Kinda works well the place it chose, leaves real estate for more coral. Before, it took residency on the front side and with the size of it I was a little concerned

The Grizz 12-22-2010 12:26 AM

Here are my 3 clowns, the 2 big ones love my GBTA so much that it never gets time to fully open and my little guy who is in love with one of my torches. None of them have found my RBTA though.

reefwars 12-22-2010 02:15 AM

yup and still just a baby lol they get to be huge , they have one at marine aquaria thats around 20" or so i believe its the same:):)

reefwars 12-22-2010 02:17 AM

hard to keep if you like fish lol theyve got quite the predatory instincts thats why i passed it on it ate a couple of my fish, all in all though its not an easy nem to care for , i passed it on to someone with a much larger tank and with a lot more experience:)

Soooooo, who did you sell it to :lol:. It was a beauty for sure!! It's amazing the difference in size, that was growth in just 7 months :surprise:

Definitely not for beginners. They also get very large and possibly eat fish. I was lucky that it never ate anything in my tank.

possibly eats fish ???? lol it ate my 2" pj cardinal, and 3" matted file fish..... my friend sean has it in his 200g on the south side ill admit he paid more for it than i did but thats life lol he wanted it really bad and as soon as i started putting stuff uip for sale he kept probing untill i cracked, i had a list of people who wanted that nem a mile long, same with my pink with neon green tips :)

i do wish i had of kept it though at the time i was gonna sell everything and start from scratch then i started selling things and now im regretting letting a few things go that i should have kept:):)

Geeze, it never touched any of my fish and I have lots of little guys  sorry to hear that Denny. I'm verrrrry happy to hear that it went to such a large tank and I definitely know it was worth more than what I sold it for.

reefwars 12-22-2010 03:19 AM

no worries lol i loved it and knew what it was capable of and i actually thought about adding the filefish for a week or two because i knew he was a slow swimmer and i knew the carpet could make a quick meal of it but went against my better judgement anyways :)

Llamarama 12-22-2010 04:49 AM

This is my nem & clowns :) sorry for the bad iphone pic.

it is happily recovered from the koralia incident and the clowns are happy to have a safe home :) thanks again Denny!

I haven't been able to get much of a decent pic with the camera gear I have, but for what it's worth, here's one of the better shots I managed. This is from a couple of years back I think. The GBTA has since split into 4, all currently huddling close together except for one, which I removed & traded.

Nice shots! Keep them coming! I love seeing the pairs people have. Different clowns and anemones are great.

mike31154 12-22-2010 04:27 PM

Here's a more recent one of my Maroon pair, kind of blurry, but you should be able to see the clutch of eggs being tended by the more colourfull little male, while the female is giving us the evil eye.

Awesome! My buddy has a breeding pair as well. Always cool to see. Mine have paired up but no spawning yet. Since I gave them an anemone though, the "female" has definitely been decided and is growing at a much faster pace then before. I hope they become a mated pair at some point.

rjengen 12-22-2010 05:43 PM

We picked these guys up a year ago, and it didn't take long for them to settle into the green monster.

Ok, I'm on a roll here. Time to stop blaming the equipment and read the instructions for the camera. A tripod certainly helps with the focus issue. Here's one taken just moments ago with some modified settings on the camera, a tripod and the critters not as spooked by the presence of the camera since it's been sitting in front of the tank for a half hour now. Female still showing a little bit of 'stay away from my territory' posture while the male is below cleaning the spawning patch. The last batch of eggs hatched on Sunday and I think they may do the deed again today. I'll try to capture a few photos of the spawning event if I'm around.

I got him and he was almost all strings, he was under a single CF and the mother colony took up a 50gal tank, it was massive!

so when i got him I had 2 CF lights on my tank and i put him in the tank and he has stayed on that rock for a month now never moved, but I upgraded to HOT5's only a few days after getting him and ever since then hes gotten greener everyday and his bubbles show up better and better in the morning and at night, during the day they become stringy

Well hopefully this works, just have old fashioned dialup and uploading is not easy, and all i'm getting lately is red x's on photobucket. But wanted to see if I could get it to work anyways. So if this does work, it's a photo of my true perc, false perc and sebae anemone. Please don't shoot the messenger if it doesn't work, lol.

Lampshade 12-28-2010 03:53 AM

It's not an anenome, but it's their host. This still counts right?

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...stuff642-1.jpg

2pts 12-29-2010 07:24 PM

The 1st pic is my anemone (if you know the type let me know) with my 2 False Perculas.
http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/4466/025yb.jpg
The second pic is my 2 pink skunk clowns, they live in and around my toadstool coral.
http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/516/026gh.jpg
The 3rd pic is to show how close they are, so far they don't bother the other pair.

This is my perfectly good rainbow BTA (green base, red bulbs, purple tips) that none of my clowns will even try using as a host.
http://i382.photobucket.com/albums/o...12-18-2010.jpg

And this is my very small (4.5 inch) Sebae I have been bringing back to health, which they do try to use as a host.
