Business/product naming? help

OK, as some of you know, I'm trying to make/sell some things marine related. Just starting right now, but hopefully it will expand. Now, I was wondering if I should make a product name? You know, like Bandit-Marine? Would that brand name turn you off buying a product? I started my Powder Coating business mainly for the Custom Automotive field. I have passion for Trans Am's and Smokey and the Bandit, so that's how I came up with the name Bandit Powdercoat. Just not sure of it would work well for the reef division?

I'd Love to hear some suggestions for a company/brand name if you have any. Even offer some free goods if I use your name. :D

My loving wife, Reena came up with Scuba Dan.

Ohh if anyone is good with Photoshop etc, what about my Bandit head logo morphed with a Regal tang, or Clown for a company logo?

it really depends on what type of product your selling if its just a company name and it is marine related thats one thing if it is the name of the product thats another. my company name lockmaster security was bought when i took over the business but i happen to like it. so i kept it.

is your product a powdercoated product... if so bandits aquatic powdercoating and design is long but reasonable its part of you and what you do. just be true to yourself.

Ya products won't be powdercoated, but more like gadjets and gizmo's, supplies. etc. The 2 things I have on the go right now are the Automatic Fan Speed Control and a RO safe electric solenoid valve.
Who knows I may even make skimmers down the road. I do have the tools here, so name can't just be services or product specific.

ok then take a clown fish or one of your fav fish photo edit a zoro mask make it your mascott so ppl whoi know you know of your bandit looking fish and call yourself undersea aquatics (instead of the underground) checked google noone really is using that name other than a wallpaper thingy

dunno just a thought im sure more ppl have better ideas i just used to like playing need for speed underground lol

Nothing wrong with Banditmarine, it doesn't specify anything in particular so you can add product as you dream it up.

Yeah Banditmarine works for me

Not to mention a Bandit Angelfish already exists.

banditpowdercoat 03-12-2010 12:53 AM

Well, that was easy HAHAHA :D

bvlester 03-12-2010 06:07 AM

Bandit Marine Products a little longer but covers anything you could make. Its a name and you have the brand already expand on it. you should have what you are selling in the name as it brings more substance to the name. Bandit Marine is as good as anything its your name already so go with what makes you see the big picture.

Just to change it up a bit what about simply REEF-BANDIT?

Deciding on a name is always challenging. Try to avoid easily defined descriptive names/images that don't really represent the product or service you provide.

Some names/images trigger an inherently funny or negative response, "bandit" = stealing, "zero" = low...and many others.

Consider a name that can also be easily abbreviated, for obvious reasons.

Do you have a name for you automotive side? Perhaps tie it in.

How about Marine Powdercoating Systems (MPS)?

At the end of the day, it is all about the quality and the service.

So how much to to powdercoat a take-off pair of magnessium valve covers from my 08 GT? Just a test - I already had it done. Cheers.

Ya I know now about the Image Bandit-Stealing but to late to change the powder name now. Bandit Powdercoat it has been for almost 5 years now.

A set of Mag covers. About $50 for the set in a solid color. Any masking, 2nd coating, Previous coatings strip is extra. Not sure what 08 GT covers look like, that price is pretty average for V8 covers. Only difference in Magnesium is that I can't use strippers on it, pretty much media blasting to remove previous coatings. Strippers can react with the magnesium, sometimes with not so nice results.

Is this a Ford GT or a GT500 mustang?

Dan,

Tidnab Powdercoat. joking with you! I have to agree though, Bandit needs to go, IMO. Where is your creativity man. Ask Zoe for help.

I like Reef Bandit (it's a catchy name and sounds cool) and I like the cowboy ridding seahorse pic.

Also if you're curious this is a pic. of a bandit angelfish

Yes, ever word has associated connotations :) Yah, I do remember something from Grade 12 English. I knew it would be valuable one day for something and today has become that day!!
