FS Calcium Reactor

Co2 tank, reg and bubble counter not included. Works well for a moderately stocked tank.

Quinn 09-15-2003 01:29 AM

Kari what are you doing with your tank? First dibs on a piece of that yellow thing if you're making serious changes.

Please provide more info and the asking price.
Thanks

kari 09-16-2003 04:33 AM

Asking price is half of what I paid ($140.) The unit has been running for about 4-5 months.
-DIY project
-approx 20" tall 4.5" dia (holds about 1 container of ARM)
-down flow design
-1/4" acrylic
-recirc line from top and bottom
-fittings are JG and Spears except bulkheads(unknown)
-1/2" fittings at pump connection
-suitable pump = Mag2 not included
-gravity or siphon fed ( no pump needed for supply line when located adjacent or below typical sump or tank)
-no problems with cavitation

There should be a thread by Canadian Man in the DIY with photos and more details or I can post a photo when I return to Calgary

kari 09-17-2003 04:42 AM

I'm not getting the "Fuzzy Stick" stuff. But please don't explain, I feel I'm better off not knowing.

So what's the plan Kari, how you gonna keep the levels up, building another?, Bigger?

Quinn 09-17-2003 04:55 AM

Deb... outside the box... so not in the aquarium... ah ha! You're going to start drinking water high in calcium to strengthen your bones for your upcoming world-record free-fall attempt!

Really though, I'm at a loss.

EmilyB 09-17-2003 05:00 AM

Well, you could think clams....but that may or may not be the answer.....

kari 09-17-2003 05:02 AM

I didn't have much to do one weekend so I made another one. It was planned to be a weekend project. Yah right, 200km and a dozen trips to Rona and misc stores later its done. Its larger than the last one. Haven't been home to check how its running. I think I now have more fittings on the shelf in my garage than HD and Rona combined

Buccaneer 09-17-2003 05:05 AM

Is it like the one I built ?

Cheers

Canadian Man 09-17-2003 05:58 AM

 Great score Deb!
I knew I would sell you a reactor some day. I guess this way it was a little more indirect

(insert music) Ra Ra Shisk boom ba, Deb's a gettin all techy on us!
(end music)

now you just got to get the other stuff. Oh and now you don't have to do waterchanges on the new tank as often
