FragFest II 2010, the return...

I know this is quite early for us to be thinking about this, but need a earlier lead time to make this event an even larger event that last year.

I have already started canvasing other CanReef and Local sponsers for the event.

Like last year, all local stores are invited to attend, as long as they supply a contribution to the sponsers table which will be raffled out to attendees.

Please help make this a success like last year.

Without the marine community there is no FragFest.

FragFest 2010

After a talk with a few of the "Edmonton Reefers" over the weekend, we are going to set a rough date for this year’s event for the last Sunday in August. August 29, 2010.

I have and will be canvassing all of last year’s supporters, and will be approaching other LFS in Alberta, all are welcome.

For the sponsors, just like last year the only requirement to the sponsors is supply a few items for the draws, either than that you will get equal billing and table space.

For the attendee's, the only requirement is to bring a healthy appetite, and have fun.

Maybe I can talk the AI fish to come out and entertain the children.

I am hoping this will be much more organized than last year.

Gives people time to start frags, so they can sell and use that $$$ to get frags from others.

Ken

Hmmmm, thinking I should frag a bit.

BlueWorldAquatic 03-12-2010 12:56 PM

I am in the process of setting up a frag "Grow OP" in Soda's old home. Start bringing some exotics to give away at the Fest.

Any donations? You will be compensated for them.

Leah,

I hope you can make it. Last year we have people from Calgary, Lethbridge, Atabasca, Grande Prairie, Peace River, and Red Deer.

Was fun watching people meet for the first time in real life, that have been friends online for years.

But that is part of what the "FragFest" was for, to bring the hobbiest together.

:biggrin1:
Oh, no, no, no...I will not miss it this year, besides you need some people from B.C. to tell you crazy people that we have way nicer winters in B.C.:boink:

BlueWorldAquatic 04-27-2010 06:28 PM

Just a heads up....and update..

I will be canvassing the contributors from last year for donations :twised: which made last years event a success.

Anyone that has or wants to contribute to this years event is more than welcome to do so. Please PM or email me at ken@dimensional.ab.ca.

Any and all proceeds will got back to the community. We are thinking of the Food Bank or Edmonton Humane Society.

Stores/Business that wish to attend please RSVP me as soon as possible, all we ask is that you contribute about $100.00 to the draw table. This will guarantee you a table for anything you wish to bring and trade/sell.

Same as last year, BWA will be supplying a nice door prize for the event attendees, and will also have a draw for those that can't or don't attend. Unfortunately our in store security officer has moved to a larger aquarium.

This years event will be schedulled for Sunday August 29, 2010.

More food, more fun, more frags.....

That'd be cool. If that happens here's my prediction, reefers + :drinking: = I spent how much more than I was supposed to ??? :faint: Or maybe that's just how it'd turn out in my case

I was going to ask, but I know you are still quite busy with your new daughter.

I knew you would offer though. Glad you were able to just attend for a bit,
Ken

FragFest II 2010, the return...**Event Date Poll**

I have been asked by a few customers and users on Canreef if I would consider the previous Saturday. So I thought I would let the users decide on the date.

Either Saturday August 28th or Sunday Augus 29th

These are some of the things to consider;
Parking on Saturday will be limited, whereas Sunday we have the whole parking lot to use.
The bar is open on Saturday, but not Sunday (they may consider Sunday for this event)

I will let people vote until May 8th on these dates. If anyone has any other reasons for either date please don't hesitate to post them.

Hey Laurie,

It's quite funny when you meet an online friend for the first time huh?

Ken

kevNnic 04-28-2010 09:28 PM

I will be there this year to buy many frags, looking forward to meeting everyone.

The Grizz 04-28-2010 11:18 PM

Either day would work for me but having the parking lot all to our self's would be more beneficial. So my vote is for the Sunday.

MadCow 04-29-2010 01:50 AM

Was a fun time last year, back this year for sure....

Edmonton newbie 04-29-2010 03:10 AM

i can make either day as long as the sun isnt shining too hot lol. Why do you always plan this in the middle of riding season?

Uhm.... I have no real answer to that, except the middle of riding season is the kickoff to the marine season.

landshark 04-29-2010 04:18 PM

Count me in for Sunday Ken. Bring frags if you can everybody. It was great last year. I sold over 20 frags last year in about an hour. I brought zoas and accompanied them with photographs taken just before the event. Gives everyone a chance to see what they look like under normal conditions.

That was our main outlook for the business when I took over. A community based store that the people can hang out in without pressure of someone always trying to sell you something.

I don't know how many of you help us out when it gets busy too, even with some rolling up their sleeves. The community support is unbelievable, and we appreciate every bit of it.
