Calgary Water
Anyone do a tds reading lately on Calgary tap water.... I just tested mine and my ro/di unit... My tap water was reading only 12 and my ro/di unit was reading 2. I did not think our tap water was that good.... Maybe its time to buy a better tds meter... Cheapy walmart one:mrgreen:...
Yup just now.
147 out of the tap 0 out of the ro/di |
Dam I wonder what my ro/di is really at then!!!!
did mine a few months ago.
135 for tap 0 for RO |
I'm getting >200 out of the tap at the moment, although mine comes out of Glenmore and if you're in the north yours is coming out of Bearspaw, and I believe I've heard that Glenmore is usually quite a bit harder.
Mine is usually about 120ppm going into the ro/di.
walmart has TDS meters?
Yup 15 bucks hiding in the automotive section.
236 tap, 9 after DI.
keep in mind its PPM, so an error of 100/1,000,000 is still really accurate... a 50 dollar instrument. very neat indeed! Also, keep in mind temperature adjustments. |
Interesting because I should get the same water as the OP, and mine was 147ppm tap, 2ppm from my RO/DI, and just for fun 4ppm bottled from the grocery store
What is the name/brand of the TDS meter from walmart? dont know which one i should buy.
ummm...intellitech? its white and blue
Anyone know how Chestermere's water is? We just moved out here and setup the tank using tap water (r/o soon) and I thought Calgary water was bad. I'm sure this is worse it's undrinkable.
I find Calgary water at 140-170, but usually in the 140's
Yep. My test weekly mostly give out 1.38 to 1.45 intake
Yup its blue and white and about 15bucks thats all I remember about it
I get around 140-180ppm, however I find that it varies within a day depending on when your testing, lower numbers at night for me.
Just now 135ppm in the SE.
I live in the north of Calgary and mine is always hovering between 170 to 200 ppm from the tap.
Im fairly new to the Marine fishkeeping hobby. Is there something bad about using Calgary water for a FOWLR tank? is a RO/DI unit a necessity? does the hardness of calgary water not help buffer pH? of is it too much?
You can use Calgary water just get a good conditioner like PRIME, but if you want to control what is in the water then get an ro/di until or get water brought in.
