Calgary, what's the one LFS to go to?

Thinking for corals. Heading south but won't have a lot of free time. Probably won't buy anything this trip but to get an idea for next time down.

karazy 04-01-2009 04:19 AM

well elite aquatics is the most southern store there is,
but i also suggest red coral and golds. golds is alot of cichlids though, but good for hardware.

fragNplug 04-01-2009 04:59 AM

redcoral in the nw.

Rbacchiega 04-01-2009 05:12 AM

For Corals Red Coral would be my Number One. Ocean City is a good place to check out too. I just picked up a rock of zoas with EASILY 100+ Polyps....for 59.99. And these aren't just run of the mill zoas, eagle eyes, green goddess, purple/blue ones and orange centre...all on one rock

Trigger Man 04-01-2009 05:14 AM

For instock fish I would say Golds or Ocean City, and for corals I would say Red Coral.

Wow, sounds like a nice find you got yourself there.

Rbacchiega 04-01-2009 05:21 AM

it is indeed. I'll grab a pic tomorrow when lights are back on

Jeff_ 04-01-2009 05:30 AM

I'd recommend Red Coral as well, I visit every time Im down there.

digital-audiophile 04-01-2009 02:52 PM

It's hard to find a place that has a decent coral stock at any given time. I have not been there in a while, but Ocean City always seems to have stock on hand, but if you can find the time for sure check golds and red coral. Wais is always well stocked too.

parkinsn 04-01-2009 03:29 PM

Red Coral is worth a trip, Ocean City, and Golds

Ryan 04-01-2009 03:38 PM

After the service and great price on the light I got at Golds I will be shopping there first. Only if they dont have what I want will I be stopping somwhere else.

Price isnt everything but those 2 guys in Gold's helped me out and it wasnt like they were trying to rush me out (5:30 on a sunday). The rest was just the icing on the cake IMO.

Aquattro 04-01-2009 03:55 PM

While suggesting stores is fine, please refrain from announcing shipments at particular stores. Thank you.

digital-audiophile 04-01-2009 04:01 PM

I feel violated LOL :p

lorenz0 04-01-2009 04:25 PM

red coral, my favorite shop in town

fishytime 04-01-2009 05:32 PM

How bout petcetera?

lastlight 04-01-2009 06:17 PM

Doug's going to get in trouble plugging other stores.

Though I agree Petcetera is most likely your best bet for anything reef-related.

I just picked up some amazing pieces from Ocean City here. I just so happened to have taken some pictures too, just in case you want to get an idea... or if you just like pictures :p

Stopped in a Red Coral and have to say I'm impressed.

Told the SPS had been picked over but still some decent colonies and nice prices.

Looks like Ocean City worth a stop next time.

Ollie 04-06-2009 01:43 PM

For price and health. I find golds is pretty good.

Aleks 04-29-2009 01:26 AM

I was quite surprised by the amount at Wai's.....big ones too, so not too many frags like Red Coral.......Red coral had a fair amount too...
