My senegal parrot. For one of the 'quietest' parrots available this one certainly makes a lot of noise...

Jason McK 04-01-2009 12:30 AM

Quiet is a relative term in the bird world. I would imagine when Brad had all those Toos his house was a little bit noisy

There are some AWESOME pictures of birds! (Especially the hummingbird. Nicely done!)

This is Burt, our Fife Canary. I was never into birds, but he's an awesome little buddy.

Oh my god! I think there's a new bird I can fall in love with! Are those noisy (the gouldians)?

Mikee 04-01-2009 01:06 AM

Not at all. Very peaceful birds actually.

I sure do miss my gouldians, I have about 30 of them at one time. I love when the males are trying to court the females with their little dance bouncing up and down, so damn cute.

.... I shouldn't be asking this......

Do you breed them, by chance? I might need to look them up. Maybe. Not like I have ANY animals in my house already!!! LOL

Myka 04-01-2009 02:29 AM

I don't any pics on this computer, but I used to have a Double Yellow Headed Amazon named Tequila. He was awesome, but I developed a very bad allergy to him as I developed asthma in my teens. He says so many words that he actually doesn't have any bird noises. He is very interactive, not shy about talking at all. Luckily I was able to sell him to a woman I know so I can go see him when I want to. Here is a pic of a DYHA, but not my Tequila. DYHAs start off with little yellow on their heads as babies, and slowly develop more and more as they age.

Here's Thor, Blue front Amazon. I've had him for 21 years and he's just as miserable now as when I got him, I don't have a finger left that does'nt sport one of his bite marks, for some reason he can say "F%#@ING bird" quite well.

My garage was converted to an aviary, I only kept the umbrella in the house, and she was loud enough!

Eduardo 04-01-2009 03:57 AM

Used to have a yellow nape amazon. Great companion, good talker and very gentle. Unfortunately my son had a ton of allergies as a baby and we had to provide him with a relatively allergy free environment. Down-side is that "Simon" had to leave our home but on the upside, my son has outgrown most of his allergies and "Simon" is with one a good friend.

Levi1803 - what different color mutations did you have? i love the little dance the males do too haha.

Leezard - I do breed them. Actually been breeding them for about 3 years now. One color mutation i hope to get still are blue backed ones.

That's correct.

I've always wondered if the food that I've been feeding to my senegal was very good or not. I give him Kaytee Exact plus daily random treats like fruit, veggies and pasta as that is what the breeder was feeding her birds. What brands are you guys feeding your birds and what would you recommend for my senegal?
