Can't access J&L website from home?
Very weird problem... I can't access the J&L website from my home laptop... haven't been able to for as long as I can remember. No idea why this is..
I use my parent's laptop, and I can access the site, but it hangs on certain pages (checkouts, etc..) No idea why this is happening.. and I am not sure if it's something I can resolve or not, it's just so weird?? Any tips or things I can try? Sure would be nice to be able to view their website from home. All other sites work fine. I have deleted cookies, temp files, etc, and still nothing. |
Do you use Internet Explorer or Firefox or something else? It could be your browser malfuctioning. I had a similar problem with IE, so I installed Firefox, and have been problem free ever since.

I have no isues at work or home...IE6 and IE7

Doesn't matter. Just because your IE is broken doesn't mean mine is, or your neighbours, or some guy from Timbuktu. It's not the program that is faulty, it's your specific one that may be damaged due to viruses or w.h.y. Firefox is easy to DL, and it doesn't delete your IE. You can still use IE if you DL Firefox. Just go DL Firefox, and see if it works. It's a simple fix.

I don't think he has stated his IE is broken??
But to add, I use both and it doesn't work on either browser. |
I didn't think my IE was broken either. It worked fine on all sites except YouTube and MOPS. I DLed Firefox, and I can use both of those sites now. If I open my IE, I can't go to them.

I have no troubles accessing any other websites but J&L. We'll see if someone can offer any suggestions.. seems like something is blocking the connection for whatever reason or some kind of security setting blocking it. I will mess about with it a bit more today and see if I can come up with anything myself.

try this:
http://64.69.94.116 If it works you have a name resolution problem, if not something is blocking it. |
Or they've banned you. :p
Sorry for the smark aleck post, I have no idea why it wouldn't work. That is an odd problem.. Who is your ISP, Shaw, Telus, etc.? Do you have a firewall on your own PC or some kind of popup blocker? What is the actual symptom - page just times out? |
I had that problem just before last years boxing day sale....... never did figure out what happened. I could not access the site from my home computer until about 2 months later.

Option 1: They (or their ISP) have an IPS or Firewall that has detected malicious activity from your IP (not necessarily when YOU had it) and are blocking the IP. Sadly, while it is difficult to get an ISP to give you a static IP, it can also be difficult to get a fresh one... try unplugging your cable modem or DSL modem for a while.
Option 2: Your DNS cache is corrupt, and name resolution isn't working correctly for that site. Run "IPConfig /flushdns" from a command window. Option 3: Your firewall or other security software is in the way (someone messing with the settings in your home router possibly?). Also, your AV software could be in the way... I've seen AVG do this to sites (yahoo, google) when web content protection was enabled. Option 4: Your ISP has decided to block that site. Option 5: Cookies, cache... but you've already gone there. |
