Quietest powerheads?

In your experience with powerheads what was the quietest powerhead you have ever used? Ones that don't chatter, humm or vibrate to loud.

Thanks, Chris

I'm using a Tunze Stream 6000 and it's the quietest powerhead I've used.

Hi Chris

They are a bit expensive, however they are the quietest TUNZE. I like the variable speed models and the magnetic holders. I have 2 and a TUNZE wavebox in the 180G. I would like another one for my 125G. If you are thinking of a ProfiLux controller you can save the cost of the TUNZE controllers as the ProfiLux will control them.

I have a couple Tunze 6060s and just bought a nanostream 6045. They're all on magnet brackets and are very quiet.

Thanks Jack, Tom and Christy . I was thinking that tunze was the way to go but couldn't stomach the cost right now. Guess I will have to save up or hope to find a few decent used ones for sale.

There were a couple 6060s on here awhile ago, not sure if they're still available. Best bang for your buck (used), but they're not controllable.

Yes they are on the Island and the guy won't ship. I just told Brad about them.

christyf5 07-28-2008 10:57 PM

crud, if it wasn't a 3hr round trip drive I'd go get them for ya.

Chowder 07-28-2008 11:12 PM

Thanks for the offer though.

I can't really much, but I have the Koralia 3's and I can't hear them at all. At least not outside the tank.. Perhaps my fish can hear them..

dsaundry 07-29-2008 01:09 AM

I have got the Koralia's as well 1-4 and all are quiet....

Chowder 07-29-2008 02:02 AM

I havn't had to much luck with the Koralias. Had one that would chatter quite loud. Had to turn it off every night just to sleep.

I have a pair of 6080 Tunze on my tank plus the Tunze Wavebox and I LOVE them...very very quiet and in the end worth every single penny. They really are fantastic and I've never regretted the purchase. BIG thumbs up for Tunze for me!

Lance 07-29-2008 04:00 AM

I've got a Tunze and a Koralia running in the tank right now, and I can't hear either of them.

PoonTang 07-29-2008 04:23 AM

2 korillia 4's in my tank, cant hear them at all, and alot cheaper than the Tunzes

michika 07-29-2008 04:55 AM

My koralia has been super silent.

SATELLITE 07-29-2008 04:57 AM

Koralias for sure i have 3 different ones. 4, 3, 1, and they are great

Captainhemo 07-29-2008 06:36 AM

My Koralia's are also very quiet.. Don't forget the orginal Koralia are not officially controllable, mine do chatter a bit at startup if being used on a wavemaker.
The new line of Koralias is controllable but they are more money than the originals

purplepolypeater 07-29-2008 12:52 PM
