What the?

So I placed an order with Bulk Reef Supply and they shipped it out by UPS. It's in transit and I thought I would check on it's progress. Does this make sense to anyone? :drinking:
Just for the record, delivery date is for april 22nd. I was confused as to why it only took 24hrs to get to Richmond, BC and a week to get from Richmond to Powell River, at least now I know why. I wonder how many times it gets to cross the border before I get it

If it's Fedex, all parcels go through their main station in Mn, then shipped worlwide after. Doesn't make sense sometimes, but it works for them.

It's UPS and it came from Mn, went to Richmond (Canada) and then went back down to Spokane

Good old UPS. They have some interesting shipping practices

Hi Marie

First off they have no idea where Powell River is.

Second to justify the rates they charge it has to cross the border 2 or 3 times and stay in their warehouse a couple of days.

you'll be happy with it when you get it.The thing that i didn't like was the 59.95 turned into almost 150.

Worst part is, they'll probably ding you twice for the GST and duty charges. :twised::twised:

dsaundry 04-17-2008 10:43 PM

Maybe its a secret plot by the americans to try to devalue our dollar. They figure if they can't get what they used to..just do it twice and charge for it....

Monti-Man 04-17-2008 10:54 PM

I have ordered from them numerous times. What you are seeing is when ups sends the paper work to customs. The package is actually in Spokane but the customs office they use are in Richmond.

I have yet to ever pay GST from them and i just received a package on Tuesday.

Just received a bucket of carbon from them and no extra charges. That $10 flat brokerage rate that you pay upfront with shipping is AWESOME!

Hi Marie.
I received an order back in Feb. and it worked just as Monti-Man's did. If I remember correctly, it took 10 days from order date to receiving it. I also remember being quite pleased with the freight, duty, etc.

marie 04-18-2008 12:52 AM

I have no doubt I'll be happy with the order. It was just seeing it go across the border twice that took me aback  . Sending the paper work on ahead makes sense though.

Correct me if i'm wrong but there should be no duty if it's made in the states right?

Yup, exactly. I get Whacked with insane UPS bills at times. I have literally BLOWN up on the phone. Heck, a 10Lb box, of NAFTA applicable goods(Powder coating) Net value, $70US. They billing me $106CDN for shipping. 1 week+ shipping, not overnight. Can you belive it?
