The next great reef meet / Edm tank tour ~ Updated with photos!
 

Something different? I half-joked one time with Neal that we should rent his giant limo and do a reef tour. The more I think about it, the more fun it would be. It wouldn't be free, but maybe we could get a few people to volunteer to allow us to traipse through their homes to gawk, have some laughs, and finish off at a restuarant for some dinner?

If there's interest, we could approach Neal for a rate, and see how much it might cost us. I'm thinking we'd do it a month or six weeks from now... maybe mid-March?

So, there's the idea. Shoot away!

I would be willing to drive around Edmonton for a sunday afternoon for free.
The party bus(holds 20) would probably be better than my cadillac though..it gets around alot easier..tough to find parking spots for a 37 foot cadillac escalade limo.
I get back from Indonesia March 6 so I am game from mid march on as long as the bus isn't booked..which is unlikely on a Sunday.
if possible and people aren't offended by the idea, I would like to suggest all meeting at my my new store so people can see what is happening there and give suggestions as to how to improve things...
it will be still in the growing stages by then..lol
I am definitely game though. (even if we start else where..lol)

im shure you can get it by my place for a look at my little tank
they pull 70 foot trailers all around in here so a limo would fit no prob

I'm in on this as well:) We could make my place one of the stops on the pub..er I mean reef crawl.

Neal: That is an extremely generous offer, but I think we should scratch up $$ for your effort/gas. Starting at your location is sensible.

March 16 or 30 are tentative dates; voice your opinion.

We'll need 3 or 4 hosts to make this a proper reef :drinking:crawl (thanks, Jason!).

I'll monitor this thread, and begin to build a schedule and participant list. If it looks like we build critical mass, I'll start to lock in details.

I am not really all that worried about gas money..
if people feel the need, throw in 5 bucks and that would cover the gas for sure
I would personally suggest the 30 Mar.
as well, I think that we should focus on bigger reef tanks or tanks that are more unusual.....
no offense but looking at a 20 gallon nano isn't really going to excite me all that much..lol
we will have to cut the participation off at 20 people..anymore than that and people will be driving themselves.

So, all you reef-keepers... I know you haven't necessarily wanted to host a reef meet. The long hours of preparation, the hosting duties, the wear-and-tear on your family's patience. This is your chance to show off. We'll come, stay for a half-hour, and leave!

We've got plenty of people interested (15 so far), but we'll need more stops on the tour!

Don't be shy! We'll ooh and aah. We won't judge your algae or salt-creep. We won't eat your cookies, unless you ask us to.

I am personally interested in seeing fish rooms etc or high tech equip in use.

no matter im still in for the tour couse by then there is no way ill have any thing but water in my 90

Wouldn't mine the ride along and if needing stops, house is open (145g and basement sump).

Ya kinda like that (got some brown zoos from you about a 1 1/2-2 yrs ago), only carpeted and it used to be a kids play room so it's painted sky blue with rolling green hills :mrgreen:

I don't mind a having a bunch of reefers over.

I wouldn't mind coming along for the ride provided I know the date so that I can book the day off well in advance.

We're just about at 20 participants already! Wow!

Wheee.... If you've responded "I'm there"... I'm counting you in. Any new affirmations will be put on the reserve list. If experience is any guide, up to half the early responders will find a later conflict, so don't despair. I'll bump this post near the date, and look for final confirmations.

I think the 30th would be better for me over the 16th, both are pretty much okay though. probably be 2 coming including myself :razz:

hey Matt! Did you get my Hell, Yeah back on page 1? I dont want to miss this one....... but I want to see big, well developed tanks too, so I volunteer Landos tank too! :) Either date mentioed would work for me.
