Fighting conch gone missing

Its been a couple days with no sign of the fighting conch.
He has never run away like this before.
Last seen walking along back of tank.
Please report and findings to the Missing Conch line.

No but serious is it normal for Conches to hide for days on end.
I miss him and my sand is turning brown!!!!

I've gone weeks without seeing mine (I have two in my tank). I don't know what they're up to, I get all concerned, then get all sad thinking that they're goners, then they go and show up again. Weird. Don't know what they're doing when they go on vacation like that.

If there's lots for it to eat, I suspect that yours is doing the same espescially if it's only been a day or two or three ... I bet you see him (her?) again by week's end. My $0.02, anyways, HTH..

I second Tony's response, You will probably see IT soon.

I recall Steve saying his did that. Eat heavy for week, bury themselves for a week...

I have two, so I am never sure if I am looking at the one that is missing or the other one. :)

Both are correct:

If you have a soundcard, click these to hear both pronunciations:

Maybe permanent marker or some sort of a tagging system can help?

How about those little beeping coller things they put on bears to track them.

StirCrazy 01-15-2003 02:48 PM

Hmmm you could try cleaning them off one day and looking at the shells.. my two have vary different markings on the shell (that remaind visable even when they are all covered in sand) .. kinda like haveing twins.. any loving parent can tell them apart

I wonder if they disappear when they have no work to do? The reason I ask is because those glass beads seem to grow a lot of diatoms. So mine is out eating all the time. I now swap him between two tanks so he is really busy.

Tau2301 01-16-2003 02:15 AM

Actually they're identical twins. I can tell them apart by the fact that one of them is ugly.
