Good for Canadian wholesalers.

Also bad for tourism, forestry, canadian export to the US of any kind...ect...ect...Not a good thing IMO. Thank god for all the Albertans coming to the Island these days:biggrin: makes up for the lack of Americans.

***BTW, not pointing any fingers at any retailers on this site, you all seem to be nicely competitive:) |
It did hit par this morning. This afternoon when I checked it had dropped to 0.9984. I wonder if it goes above tomorrow.
One thing though, I checked a bunch of things I want to buy at some U.S. vendors, and Wendell STILL has them price beat. I'll still be buying the stuff from Ocean Aquatics. Wendell da man!!! |

Oh yes. Very true. I had to buy my Thule bike carrier off ebay. The Canadian retail price of the unit was (and still is) $600, whereas the US list price is $300. Then you have your ebay retailers who sell for even less because of no overhead. I paid $270 plus $60 shipping, taxes etc. to my door. Thule refuses to adjust their Canadian prices, the difference is quite obscene. I'm not sure why they think it's in their better interest to punish Canadians like that. At any rate, their Canadian retailers/distributors lost out on a sale because of that practise.

Initially parity will be rough on some aspects of CDN business but as things level out and the dollars stay close to equal it will get better. It will take a couple years though.
One comment on tourism. Even when the CDN $ was at 65 cents Canadians still went to the States and travelled abroad, the Yanks just have to swallow their pride and get over themselves. |
Forceasters are betting on our dollar being 1.05 within 4 or 5 months...some things are nicley cheaper on the Fishy sites in the US...A lot are not. same as always. I kinda shop wherever, I support local when my pocketbook allows, but it dictates when that is :)
