OMG - Is it just me, or did July hit?

It was OVER 80 today (I guess that's like, 27C?) in Surrey....

My bedroom, which houses FAR too bloody many tanks, was like a serious sauna, and my dog having a very recent case of diarrhea DOES NOT HELP.

When did Spring happen? Why the heck didn't anyone tell me?

I'm buying a portable AC this weekend, I don't care HOW much it costs me.

UGH!

Chaloupa 05-31-2007 04:50 AM

yah it hit here too...our family room with over 300g of water was so gross! Yes, we got our quote for a heat pump today so the entire freakin house will be cool along with the tanks! I can't take it!

andsoitgoes 05-31-2007 04:53 AM

ooh! Heat pump??? And dare I ask how much THOSE are?

Chaloupa 05-31-2007 05:30 AM

for our house it will be just over $8000.00 (complete sq footage is 3500)...BUT you never get too hot again, your tanks stay cool, less evaporation, happier corals, happier family, energy effecient.....PRICELESS! sounds good to me...we just did a MAJOR reno on our house and figured now would be the time and just in time!

Hello,

C'mon guys. 27 degree celcius. We have like 35+ here in HK a few days ago. In Australia it reaches 40+ during summer time.

Titus

Ugh my house was already 25 when I woke up this am.

Chaloupa 05-31-2007 03:52 PM

I hear ya Christy! We have no blinds on our front windows as they were just replaced....blinds are supposed to be in today...one can only hope as the sun pours into the house....and I sit here roasting, getting more fans to cool down the family room where the tanks are....it wouldn't be so bad if it had slowly worked up to this instead of torential downpours, then blasting sun! And it's only going to get hotter!

Haha, we had snow last week, nyah nyah, our spring has been so lousy I even have dead trees in my yard, look who's laughing now. Oh wait a minute. Um .. crap, never mind.

andsoitgoes 05-31-2007 05:13 PM

LOL Tony.

And Titus, that's why I'm not IN HK or Australia!!! I came to BC from the midwest to enjoy "Temperate Climates" - who can I sue for false adveritising?!?!?!?

Luckily today is nice and cool right now, or I'll trick myself into believing it is - I'm sure that will change and my bedroom will be like a fart in a bottle by the end of the day.

Tony perhaps you forgot that in Alberta we only get two seasons; winter and construction.

No sh*t... but at least it is supposed to be nice for the next few days of construction :)

Snappy 06-01-2007 01:43 PM

I should probably clarify that those are the Calgary seasons. In the rest of Alberta the two seasons are winter and then 6 months of tough sledding.

Delphinus 06-01-2007 05:54 PM

I was gonna say "lousy skiing" but I guess that works too :)

Ha ha. This is the truest thing I've heard all day. At least I don't have to take the Glenmore-->Crowchild route to work now. That was a complete nightmare.

Side note: I just discovered my office has air conditioning! There is a god.

I manged to make it up to whistler yesterday in the 25 degree weather and snowboarded for 4 hours. Ranks up there with one of the best days I've ever had in the snow, was almost like playing in a slurpee.

Der_Iron_Chef 06-01-2007 07:28 PM

Mmmmm. Slurpee.

SeaHorse_Fanatic 06-01-2007 08:27 PM

Just picked up a lightly used 7200btu portable 3in1 AC unit by Enstar from someone in Coquitlam. At 800w, it will hopefully do the job without blowing my breakers.

This silly weather is hell on my tank evaporation.
