buy one get one free at petcetera......
just stopped in to pick up some dry goods and noticed they now (perminatly) have a buy one get one free, even on saltwater....I am not a huge fan of them myself, but the fish did look healthy(this time) - if you could get passed the copius amounts of algae in the tanks....
Never really looked at the live stock they carry - just go there every now & then for dry goods for my dog. Do all of their stores carry salt water fish ?
yup, all of em do, but there quality is very suspect, some times its good, but most of the time its not. If you are going to look at fish look at ALL the fish (for ick) in all the tanks since the are all connected.
I got my Scooter Blennie there over a year ago and he's still around.
Maybe they should just charge half as much rather forcing you to put two new fish into your tank at the same time.
You bring up a good point Kim.
I origionaly purchased 2 Scooter Blennies and 1 died in the first week. Makes sense :) |
Does it have to be two the same species fish. I was looking for a Royal Grama today, but could not find one. :(
No you can get whatever you want but if one fish is $100 and the other is $10 you get the $10 one for free. This is an extreme example of course
they once had a buy one get 2 free....that was a sweet deal. they actual had good fish in that time too.
Bob - they had a RG at the North Hill store last week. It was $39.
Aj :? |
Thanks Alan. RG's are usually $24.95 at the LSOH's and Pisces. So it is not quite as good a deal. I understand Kim's problem, but if you are looking for Group type fish such as Neon Gobies, or Catalina Gobies it would be a good idea. :D

I hear that petcetera's salt tanks are so sterile (Massive UV unit) that the fish's immunity becomes weak and then when you get it home, it dies very quickly. (Sorry my engrish not make cents. Long day) Also I heard of them getting many cynide caught fish. Everything I've bought from them has died and most of my friends whom have bought stuff from them also have a high casualty rate!

I went into Petcetera once and saw fish writhing in pain from starvation. It's not something I ever care to repeat, or support, to save a $.
I have had super success mail ordering fish from places such as J & L, etc. I have no more room for fish....but now you have me wanting to....guess I need another tank....... |
Save a buck, kill more fish...
You've got to wonder about a mall outlet LFS that has black cyano stringing throughout their tanks...
And they ask you what you think about it, because they've tried everything and it just keeps coming back. My advice: "Drain all these tanks." On the brighter side, after I heard a survival story from the LSOH, I dropped in a couple weeks in a row. "Hardly any" fish dying in his tanks, and lots of real nice looking animals. But, like EmilyB I have no room. Aj |
well, i REALLY hate to admit this but some years ago i used to work there. I ended up quiting cause of there sw conditions (amongst other things), but the UV sterilizers have NEVER been replaced since the store opened, so i am guessing that they dont work all too well.
Not to be silly  , but who is LSOH ? Trying to find that good fish connection since I moved here.
Little Shop of Horrors ... aka Wai's. I dunno ... the nickname works for me. I totally expect one day to find a man-eating-alien-space-plant that sings and dances in there....
